1. Forced-air warming and continuous core temperature monitoring with zero-heat-flux thermometry during cesarean section: a retrospective observational cohort study
Abstract Background: Over 30% of parturients undergoing spinal anesthesia for cesarean section become intraoperatively hypothermic. This study assessed the magnitude of hypothermic insult in parturients and newborns using continuous, high-resolution thermometry and evaluated the efficiency of intraoperative forced-air warming for prevention of hypothermia.

2. The Influence of the Platinum Weight Percentage in the Catalyst Formulation on the Performance of a High Temperature Ethanol Electroreformer Based on H3PO4 Doped Polybenzimidazole for Green Hydrogen Production
A vapor-fed high temperature proton exchange ethanol electroreformer has been developed based on the use of a H3PO4-doped polybenzimidazole membrane to produce green hydrogen. As a key parameter, this article describes the influence of platinum weight percent (wt.%) in the catalyst formulation from different commercial catalysts (20, 40, 60, 80 wt.% Pt/C and

3. REFERENCE EVAPOTRANSPIRATION FORECASTING BY ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORKS
ABSTRACT: Evapotranspiration (ET) is the main component of water balance in agricultural systems and the most active variable of the hydrological cycle. In the literature, few studies have used the forecast the day before via Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) for the northern region of São Paulo state, Brazil. Therefore, this aimed to predict the reference

4. Improved green coffee oil antioxidant activity for cosmetical purpose by spray drying microencapsulation
AbstractThe oil extracted by cold pressing unroasted coffee beans, known as green coffee oil, has been widely used for cosmetic purposes. The objective of this work was to prepare and characterize microcapsules containing green coffee oil and to verify its antioxidant activity under the effect of light, heat and oxygen. The encapsulating material was arabic

5. Relationships of photosynthetic photon flux density, air temperature and humidity with tomato leaf diffusive conductance and temperature
The objective was to study the leaf temperature (LT) and leaf diffusive vapor conductance (gs) responses to temperature, humidity and incident flux density of photosynthetically active photons (PPFD) of tomato plants grown without water restriction in a plastic greenhouse in Santa Maria, RS, Brazil. The plants were grown in substrate and irrigated daily. The

6. Dynamic modeling of transverse flux permanent magnet generator for wind turbines
The transverse flux permanent magnet machines have become an interesting possibility for offshore wind turbines. These machines have the highest relation between electrical torque and weight of active materials. The pole pair modular construction could eliminate or lower the gear ratio used in conventional wind turbines. This paper presents a dynamic model o

7. Relationship between photochemical efficiency (JIP-Test Parameters) and portable chlorophyll meter readings in papaya plants
The Portable Chlorophyll Meter (PCM) is used to estimate the total chlorophyll and leaf nitrogen content of various species. Since there is a relationship between the chlorophyll concentration and the photochemical efficiency, a relationship can also be established between the PCM readings and some fluorescence variables to provide information on photosystem

8. Active magnetic bearing applied to a tubular linear induction motor. / Mancal magnético ativo aplicado a um motor de indução linear tubular.
A tubular linear induction motor applied to onshore oil exploitation, named MATÆOS (which is in the Portuguese acronym for Tubular Asynchronous Motor for Onshore Oil Exploitation) was built at Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo (EPUSP). Its purpose is to directly drive the sucker-rod pump installed in the down hole of the oil well. In continu

9. Signatures of two distinct driving mechanisms in the evolution of coronal mass ejections in the lower corona / Assinaturas de dois mecanismos distintos na evolução de ejeções de massa coronal na baixa coroa
Coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are the major driver for space weather disturbances. Their physical mechanisms and their influence on the geospace environment are the subject of active research and debate. Our goal is to understand how the initial magnetic configuration of a CME affects its evolution through the lower corona, until 6R⊙. We compare ou

10. Detecção amperométrica, com microeletrodos, de espécies reativas de oxigênio e nitrogênio em células isoladas estimuladas por substâncias biologicamente ativas. / Amperometric detection of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species in isolated cells, estimulated by biologically active organic compounds.
The production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS) is a metabolic situation, observed in different physiological conditions. When their production is exacerbated, there is an efficient antioxidant system able to control and re-install the homeostasis. Oxidative stress results from an acute and chronic imbalance between the pr

11. Algoritmo regional de monitoramento da taxa de fixação de carbono pelas florestas tropicais da América do Sul / Regional algorithm for monitoring the carbon assimilation by tropical forests of the South America
The most likely scenario for the next decades presents strong modifications in the global environment, including increase of the atmospheric concentration of CO2 and other trace gases, climate change and intensification of the impacts caused by the man s action. These changes may cause important modifications in the composition, structure and distribution of

12. Modelo de regiões ativas em rádio freqüências / Model of active regions at radio frequencies
The goal of this work is to model in 3-D the solar atmosphere over active regions in order to reproduce the emission of these regions at radio frequencies. The model computes the radiative transfer equations for the thermal bremsstrahlung and gyro-resonance emission mechanisms. Because there are no measurements of magnetic fields intensities in the higher so
