RESUMO
This study describes how men in the mature phase experience the conjugality in the mature phase of family life cycle. At this phase occur: the first signs of sexual decline, which have no physical traces, and more justified by psychosocial factors; the shock of masculinity as a result of the cultural implications of a decline in sexuality. This qualitative approach research used the systemic theoretical assumptions wich a group of 7 male participants living in the city of Bauru, in São Paulo, sharing a conjugal relationship for more than 20 years. It was considered aspects such as maturity, sexuality, and conjugal. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews and analyzed the narratives of the participants. The following results were observed: the andropause can be prevented by drug treatment, which contributes to the family and couple; the conjugal life exerts positive influence on this stage, provided that it has been developed during the entire famile life cycle, and particulary in the mature phase, when it is searched for a reinvestment in the relationship and in the acceptance of the phisycal, psycological and social changes of each spouse
