RESUMO
The purpose of this research is to investigate internal consequences produced by CSR initiatives and has the main purpose to identify how they contribute to the development of learning organizations by fostering team learning. A case study took place at a Brazilian company with the mission to generate, transmit, distribute, and commercialize energy, as well as to provide energy-related services, fostering sustainable development with returns for the community. Ethics (transparent, honest and balanced relationship amongst all stakeholders) and Social Responsibility (conduction of the companys life in a sustainable way, respecting the rights of all stakeholders, including future generations) are some of the values providing guidance to the companys internal and external actions and decisions. Since 2001, the company has been engaged in the United Nations Global Compact. Data was collected through focus group interviews. Each group was composed by participants of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the standard for CSR reporting in the company. The results pointed that CSR practices can contribute to create an open ambience to dialogue and reflection. Another contribution of CSR practices are encouragement to systemic thinking and information systematization.
