RESUMO

In the Northeast pre-historical context, the reference to this project is the Northeast Tradition of rupestrian painting. The researches which have already taken place about the graphic compositions of this Tradition, have generated a bank of information, which is used as base to establish graphic profiles about the human groups being studied. This informative context allows results confront, from comparative studies between the sub-traditions VÃrzea Grande, located in Serra da Capivara National Park, in the southeast of PiauÃ, and SeridÃ, located in the south of Rio Grande do Norte, in the Seridà Valley region. As our aim we intend to confirm the presence of rupestrian paintings of the VÃrzea Grande sub-tradition â PI, in grounds of the Seridà sub-tradition â RN. Through the analysis of the human graphisms in technical, thematic and scenographic dimensions aims to identify the forms of graphic presentations of the typical human representations of the Seridà sub-tradition, and which differs in the regional context from the Northeast Tradition. The rupestrian records are considered to be communication codes related to the social presentation of pre-historical human groups, and for this reason, are inserted in a social communication system. The choice of the human representations as a study object is based in this approach, and considers the fact that the forms of graphic presentations of human figures in the rupestrian painting are elements of cultural characterization as they indicate the forms of social presentations of the graphic records authors. The research was developed from the study of human representations painted in the rupestrian grounds of Mirador, Casa Santa, Xique-Xique I and Xique-Xique II, located in the micro-region of Seridà in Rio Grande do Norte, and which belong to the Seridà sub-tradition. Mirador is a reference ground for its pictorial density and the existence of demonstrative super-positions of the graphic moments in which the human representations took place. As a result of this research, forms of graphic presentations of typical human records of the Seridà sub-tradition were identified, making a preliminary profile of the human representations in the rupestrian grounds which were studied. And it was verified the presence of rupestrian human representations in Seridà (RN) with characteristics of graphic presentations in the VÃrzea Grande (PI) sub-tradition
