Citizenship is based on the principle that all men are equal before the law without discrimination of race, creed or color, having the right to education, health, housing and leisure. Being a citizen means to have rights and duties within society. Citizenship is highlighted not only by the Brazilian legislation, but also by literature and by academia, media and international organizations, among others. Access to justice must therefore be regarded as the most basic human rights. Their study assumes a broadening and deepening of the goals and methods of modern legal science. This dissertation Access to Justice: a citizenship matter aimed to investigate the perception gained by the users served by the Office of University Model UNINORTE on the role of EAJ and its relation to the rights of access to justice. The author s interest in the subject of this thesis verify itself by social function that the offices of the legal practice of universities engaged in providing free legal assistance to families of popular classes; now it is observed that men and women fight in the same conditions for their rights in relation to offspring.
