RESUMO

In this work, the method of finite difference in time domain (FDTD) is applied in the analysis and characterization of the propagation of soliton pulses. From Maxwell equations, with the introduction of the linear and nonlinear convolution as new variables, an FDTD algorithrn is developed. Relevant aspects of the FDTD method and the basic soliton theory are studied. Some aspects of the soliton cornrnunication systems are also discussed. Results are obtained for one dimensional pulse propagation in the fentosecond regime in linear and nonlinear media
