RESUMO

The aim of this work is to carry out a performance analysis of a single cell CDMA cellular system with a uniform linear antenna array at the base station for both downlink and uplink. This analysis is based on the evaluation of the average bit error probability. The system performance analysis is developed with binary shift keying (BPSK) modulated signals on a Rayleigh fading multipath channel. The fading is considered statistically independent and uncorrelated among antennas. The Gaussian approximation is used to model all the interferences. In the uplink performance analysis, the receiver structure at the base station is assumed to be a two-dimensional RAKE receiver (2D-RAKE) that combines signals in both spatial and time domains. In the downlink performance analysis, a conventional RAKE receiver is employed at the mobile stations. The analytical results show that antenna array at the base station can improve both downlink and uplink performance of a single cell CDMA system.
