RESUMO

The seeking for new technologies that aim costs reduction and quality and productivity improvement has pushed the steelmakers to develop the near-net shape casting processes. In this work it will be showed the results of the thin slabs solidification, one of these technologies, using the Thin Slabs Casting Simulator (TSCS) of the Materiais Engineering Department of UNICAMP and of the rolling applied to the samples of microalloyed steel (0,07-0,08%V and 0,02-0,04%Nb) which were casted in TSCS. The results of macro and microstructure confum the viability of the thin slabs physical simulation. It was verified the influence of two fmish rolling schedules, one above and other under TNR(No- Recrystallization Temperature), on ferritic grain refinement and on yield stress. For the finish-rolling schedule above TNR,lowering the finish-entering temperature has raised the yield stress, the greatest contribution due to the grain refinement. For the schedule under TNR,lowering the finish-entering temperature has held the ferritic grain at same size but it has lowered the contribution by hardening precipitation. Dynamic and metadynamic recristalization were the austenite softening mechanisms only in above TNRfmish rolling schedule in two passes at higher temperatures. Under TNR,the grain refmement was obtained by austenite pancaked. The precipitation strengthening contribution investigated was due to the carbonitrides particles formed in austenite with up to 50 MPa according Orowan-Ashby model and the interphase precipitation up to 90 MPa. The inclusion of a holding extra period of 15 minutes just below the finish rolling temperature has confirmed an important contribution to the yield stress given by the carbonitrides particles formed in austenite.
