RESUMO

The using of the Bacillus thuringiensis on the cabbage culture for the control of the diamondback moth has been an alternative commonly used by the producers to substitute the traditional chemical insecticides that cause damages to the environment and to the human health, as opposed to the biological products that are harmless to the humans so as to the non-target species. Still, the using of bio-insecticides needs the approval and registration by regulation means and one of the pre-requisites to this registration are the eco-toxicological tests. Based on this, the objective of this work was to verify and compare the efficiency of strain S1905, from a commercial product made of B. thuringiensis and from one chemical insecticide made of deltametrin to control the diamondback moth as well as to evaluate the adverse effects of strain S1905 of Bacillus thuringiensis on fishes of the species Danio rerio, on snails of the species Biomphalaria glabrata and of mice of the race C57BL6. The results showed that the biological products presented a large advantage on the chemical product on the control of the diamondback moth and the strain S1905 on the tested concentrations/doses did not present toxicity nor patogenicity on none of the tested species of organisms, showing that this strain not only is efficient on the control of diamondback moth but seems to have low environmental danger.
