RESUMO

The aim of this work is to demonstrate and explore the ideas about the ideal female body offered by dancing teachers that work with different pedagogic styles in classical and modern dance, belly dance and flamenco. But also to investigate how these teachers analyze and treat their students’ bodies and theirs own. The purpose of this work is to understand how an idea of an ideal body was spread along the dance history and what kind of body is required in the apprenticeship process nowadays. From a historical analyze about the presented disciplines of dances and from interviews made with teachers of these different dance languages, the author makes a critical discussion about this model of female body crystallized by the mass media, accepted and internalized by women and the possible implications it brings to the teaching praxis.
