RESUMO

The genus Lobella L. belongs to family Campanulaceae Juss. and to the subfamily Lobelloideae Scholand, where this is the biggest genus in number of species. In Brazil, 16 species and two new subspecies have been recognized and according to the infrageneric classification by WIMMER (1957), they are includede in two subgenera and three different sections. There are a key to the species, a morphologic description, illustrations and map with geographic distribution to each species which indicate a preference for highlands. The seeds are an important character to the infrageneric separation. Some species had their seeds examined in the eletronic scaning microscope and the cells of the surface of the testa have been described. Basides the seeds, other important character to the delimitation of the species can be related: the hairs of the apes of the superior anthers and of the leaves, the length, type, hairs and color of the corolla and shape and position of the bracts. The chromosomic numbers of six species are indicated: five of them are new counts and all of them present as a basic number X=7. All the pachycauly species are tetraploids (n=14) and in L. camporum, a probrable polyploid serie with n=7 and n=21 was evidenced. ...Note: The complete abstract is available with the full electronic digital thesis or dissertations
