RESUMO

The diversity of Brazilian culture, known as a national heritage, is recognized as one of the key elements for the development of tourism sector in Brazil. The cultural attractions allow tourism development to contemplate the structuring of new competitive products in domestic and international markets, motivating traveling with multiple experience purposes. Aligned with that strategy and within a larger scope, the cultural tourism segment, Brasília was designated by the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism a reference destination for film tourism development. That model, which has not been developed as a potential tourism product so far, aims at promoting destinations by locating them for filmmaking. The present study has the objective of formulating a model for a Film Tourism Observatory Center in Brasilia. Thus, the research detailed the conditions of filmmaking in Brazil, analyzed other countries experiences, such as South Africa and New Zealand, and underscored the current situation in Brasilia. At the end, the functional structure, the actions to be developed and the methodology for structuring a specific observatory center for film tourism in Brasilia are recommended.
