RESUMO

In this paper, results of inquiries about the University Student Performance in reading are presented, as well as the University Mediation in the promotion of reading, in the context of Venezuelan Society. According to the information collected, the following conclusions, among others, are drawn. It is necessary: a) the systematic perfecting of the University Reader; b) To encourage the experience of reading in its different functions; c) effective mediation of the University in solving the problematic stated.
