RESUMO

Bull s Eye , or polar map, is a semi-automatic method for the quantification of reiative myocardial perfusion defects from SPECT (Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography) tomograms obtained by labeling the myocardium with 201 IND. TI or MIBI POT. 99m Tc. The quantitative analysis of thallium and technetium studies is performed by comparing the Polar Map with templates from normal male and female subjects. Although potentially useful for the evaluation of coronary artery diseases, commercially available programs for Bull s Eye computation are too much operator dependent. The generation of normal subject patterns suffer from the same problem. The main goal of this work is to develop a new method that reduces operator dependence by automatically determining the parameters required for generating Bull s Eye. Another important purpose of this work is to analyze the Polar Map process, as well as to evaluate its advantages and drawbacks
