RESUMO

Air flow windows or ventilated windows represent a potential concept as thermally effective windows. In the present study the thermal behavior of a ventilated window is investigated numerically. This window is composed of two glass plates forming an open channel and indoor air passing between the panes removes the solar heat. This air then exits through an outlet at the top of the window. The system mode1 is based upon two dimensional and unsteady representations using the continuity, momentum and energy equations. The incident solar radiation and the temperature of the external ambient are considered and assumed varying in the time. The equations were solved numerically using a finite difference method with an ADI scheme. The ve1ocity and the temperature fields were obtained under different insulation conditions and the thermal performance of ventilated windows was evaluated
