RESUMO

The genesis and properties of a depositionaI system can be understood by the use of facies modeIs, which permit the prediction of its spatial distribution and reservoir qualities. The qualitative approach associated to nurnerical data allows the quantification of flow units. The method presented herein is intended to translate geological data into nurnerical data by applying geostatistical techniques of stochastic modelling. Geological description of turbidite reservoirs was performed in order to provide the basis for stochastic modelling. Four facies were initially recognized in welI cores: channelized lobe, lobe, lobe fringe and hernipelagic. Then, these facies were then correlated throughout the reservoir by using well-Iog data from 25 welIs. It was also performed reservoir heterogeneity analysis from micro to gigascale. The heterogeneity scales were related to the facies, concept. In this geostatistical treatment, facies were considered as categorical variables, due their dose relation to flow units. The variographic study and stochastic modelling were performed in stratigraphic coordinates. Indicator principal components were used in the modeling of facies. The results were obtained using three variograrn models (spherical, exponential and cubic) and then compared to the geological model. Two simulations were performed for porosity: conditioned and nonconditioned to facies modelling results. In both cases, it was applied a gaussian sequential simulation. Absolute permeability simulation was conditioned to the facies modelling results. In this case, the Monte Cado methodology was applied. It was also presented the upscaling of the equivalent properties in stratigraphic and structural coordinates for the simulated cases
