RESUMO
A new method for extracting ribosomal ribonucleic acid (RNA) and polyribosomes from Schizosaccharomyces pombe, a fission yeast, has been developed. Cells grown in the presence of 2-deoxyglucose were found to be more sensitive to the action of Glusulase; a short period of treatment (10 to 20 min) at 0 C was sufficient to convert the cells to osmotically sensitive structures. From these, ribosomal RNA and polyribosomes were readily prepared.
