RESUMO

There are many reports about the biological benefits over the relation between physical activity and the old age. But even, the number of practicing people is still not satisfactory. This controversial point was used for the present work. It searches the use of the local folklore as a mechanism of education and motivation for the physical activity practice in old age. Were interviewed people from Clube da Amizade in Caetite city , state of Bahia (BRAZIL), where the folkloric dances are used to motivate them in physical education classes. Also, this work uses the Paulo Freire reflections that suggests the use of the own people culture and life context as the most import way for motivating and educating them. The results prove that is positive to use this referred motivational process to stimulate the old ladies in the physical education classes. The interviewed ladies reported that they feel very stimulate during dance classes when they listen to music that makes them remember their past times, culture and moral values. They still related that in these moments the good feelings are the most important stimuli for continuing practicing physical classes. Other import point is that these classes increase the opportunity of join old friends improving the humor, bringing happiness and a better well state being. The old ladies confirm that the central idea of this present work is appropriate since they understand that they feel more stimulate for physical practice by using this method. These questions bring us to the Paulo Freire educational reflections used to motivate the physical activity practice in old age.
