RESUMO

Tree experiments were conducted in Santa Maria end Constantina (State of Rio Grande do Sul- Brazil), objecting to determine the best plant population of type II e III of common bean grown in the season and latter season, as it influence on plant diseases. The experiment design was splitsplitplot in randomized blocks with four replications. In the condition of the experiments were showed that higher population, for both cultivars, allowed higher or ever grain yield. The occurrence of plant diseases didnt carry out the lowering of grain yield in higher populations. The experiments carried during the season of 2002 were used whith objective of determining the association among diseases incidence, diseases severity, grain yield, morphological traits, to two common bean cultivars (TPS Nobre and BR IPAGRO 35 Macotaço), two populations were used, with and without diseases control. It was not possible to identify wich morphological traits were associated with the occurrence of diseases for both cultivars and places evaluated and it was not possible to evidence the increasing of the number of plants per area as the cause higher plant diseases incidence and severity.
