RESUMO

The seed companies need to be prepared to compete and maintain it viable. Evaluations of the production stages are a necessary process. In this way, the work conducted with the objective to study the production of soybean seeds at COOPAVEL COOPERATIVA AGROINDUSTRIAL. For this, it was used the historical data regarding production, quality analyses and commercialization of the commercial seeds from 1999/00 to 2003/04. The appraised parameters for each year were: volume of received seeds, in tons; seed losses during conditioning, determined based on the discard of undesirable material; low quality seed lots; and commercialized seed. They were appraised five percentage classes for germination and varietal purity and three classes for physical purity. The analyses of the data and the interpretation of the results allowed to conclude that: The use of the seed production fields is low, requiring an internal quality program. There is a need to adopt techniques to improve seed production efficiency. On the other hand, regarding the physical quality, the minimum percentage required for commercialization can increase to 99,5% without affecting the provisioning of seeds. The commercialization of seeds reached up to 85% of the approved seed lots.
