RESUMO

This work is based on a sociolingüístic perspective and aims to proceed to a study on the verbal art of a scenic-musical group “Cordel do Fogo Encantado” (CFE) from Arcoverde, in the hinterland of the Moxotó, in Pernambuco. For in such a way, I assume the theoretical perspective of Bauman and Sherzer (1974) and Bauman (1977) which conceive the verbal art as a manifestation that presents an integrative vision of the tradition and it makes use of the language in a special form, privileging its dimensions: aesthetic, social and cultural. Thus, from an etnografic inquiry on its performances recorded in video and observed in loco and on the literal production (lyrics, recited or musical poetries, popular and traditional songs etc.) of the scenic-musical group CFE. I claim that this group its constitutes -, being xxiii influenced in its performatic action and its musical compositions by elements and rhythms of the folk and traditional groups of the region where its was origined (the group Raízes de Arcoverde, the community of Caraíbas, the aboriginal tribe Xucuru and the community from the ”Alto da Conceição) -, as an interpreter/translator of a partner-cultural dimension, for example, the beliefs, myths, the rites etc., of the daily one of the northeastern, in generally and, more specifically, of inlander of the Moxotó. This makes possible the comment of the emergency of ethos of characteristic the folk culture of this region. To discuss some questions on the verbal art from the performances of CFE, I divided this text in two parts. In the first part, which is subdivides in two chapters, its present the object of research of this study. From the interviews of the proper group, I present a description of the CFE, the nature and the objectives of the work of the group and the form as they conceive its relation with the folk groups. To verify the relation of proximity of the half CFE with its partner-cultural one, I display and I comment some interviews of the proper group and some interviewed specialists. Still in this first part, I developed a historical briefing on the performance concept, concept which is constituent of the understanding of the phenomenon of the verbal art, looking for to argue excellent questions, such as: the performance as executable practical one in the artistic universe, the improvisation in the performance, the authorship of the performance, the concept of performer and the relation of performer with the hearing. The second part of this work is composed by two chapters which I present a deep explanation on the characterization of the performance from six xxiv indicated resources of the language in the study of Bauman (1977), and discourses on the possibility of the constituent resources of the performance of the group to contribute for the construction of ethos. Moreover, I analyzed the performances and the literal production in video presented for group CFE in a 1998 spectacle. For in such a way, I verified the following elements: (i) beliefs; (ii) icons (personages); (iii) problems of the hinterland; (iv) rituais/rites; and (v) popular etc., of the context of the Northeast region, a general way, and more specifically, of the context of inlander of the region of the Moxotó, in Pernambuco. Also I observed, in linguistic terms, marks of the variety not-standard and marks of the regional variety. Finally, the conclusions of the this work are presented . The methodology its constituted of the following steps: i) to attend the spectacles in order to analyze the performance of the group of the CFE; ii) to observe and to interview the groups cited in the xxv lyrics in its places of origin: Recife, Arcoverde and Pesqueira; iii) to collect historical material which served of base for the compositions of the group; e, iv) to interview the group that is main object of this study. The data of the corpus can be described of the following form: (i) the performances observed in video; (ii) interviews with informers and collected interviews from the internet and; (iii) the literal production of group CFE. The results of this study, it is possible to affirm that the aesthetic and social “dimension of the life” of inlander “pernambucano” pertaining to the region of the Moxotó language can be observed in/for that group CFE (re) constructs.
