RESUMO
A relentless pursuit of alignment of the expectations and demands of society and the interests of the organizations to seek new markets, in the current globalized scenario has been generating an increasingly heterogeneous labor force, in terms of race, ethnicity, gender, and other culturally diverse groups. The impact of diversity in organizations are many. This study aims to investigate the relationship between leadership, gender and a performance assessment, usually used as basis for promotions and career advancements. To this end, data had been raised with the leaders of the first line in a company in the sector of energy, using LMX-MDM questionnaires, developed by Liden and Maslyn (1998) to measure the multidimensionality of dyadic relationships, and BSRI, designed to provide an assessment of the degree of masculinity, femininity and androgyny (BEM, 1981), both tools extensively validated in various countries and in different populations. The data were treated by means of descriptive and inferential statistics in search of a better understanding of how gender affects the range of leadership positions in organizations.
