1. Monoglyceride biosynthesis from coconut milk with lypase enzyme of sesame seed sprouts as biocatalyst
Abstract Monoglycerides are oleochemical compounds that were widely used as emulsifying agents for foods, anti-bacterial and anti-viruses (monolaurin, monocaprin). The objective of this research was to study the optimal reaction conditions in monoglyceride production from coconut milk. To achieve that purpose, the research was carried out with two factors, n

2. IMPROVING THE CATALYTIC FEATURES OF THE LIPASE FROM Rhizomucor miehei IMMOBILIZED ON CHITOSAN-BASED HYBRID MATRICES BY ALTERING THE CHEMICAL ACTIVATION CONDITIONS
The lipase from Rhizomucor miehei (RML) has been immobilized on chitosan-based hybrid (sodium alginate or carrageenan) matrices activated with glycidol (GLY), epichlorohydrin (EPI) or glutaraldehyde (GLU) groups. Then, the properties of the different biocatalysts have been evaluated and compared with the soluble RML. Thermal stability (at pH 7.0 and 60 °C)

3. LIPASE - CATALYZED FORMATION OF PENTYL NONANOATE USING SCREENED IMMOBILIZED LIPASE FROM Rhizomucor meihei
Abstract Bio-catalysis has attracted the special attention of industrial flavour producers in the production of valuable ester compounds. In this study, the synthesis of pentyl nonanoate ester (a short chain ester with fruity aroma) was carried out with a commercial immobilized lipase from Rhizomucor meihei Lipozyme (RMIM) as biocatalyst in the esterificatio

4. OPTIMIZATION OF LIPASE IMMOBILIZATION ON MAGHEMITE AND ITS PHYSICO-CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
ABSTRACT Nanomaterial-based biocatalysts have emerged as current carriers suitable for enzyme immobilization. The nano-sized materials provide large surface area for enzyme attachment, thus increasing the probability for its efficient catalyst activity. By using magnetized nanomaterials, enhancement of the downstream processing is evident as it eases the imm

5. Genome sequence of the H2-producing Clostridium beijerinckii strain Br21 isolated from a sugarcane vinasse treatment plant
Abstract We report on the nearly complete genome sequence of Clostridium beijerinckii strain Br21, formerly isolated from a sugarcarne vinasse wastewater treatment plant. The resulting genome is ca. 5.9 Mbp in length and resembles the size of previously published C. beijerinckii genomes. We annotated the genome sequence and predicted a total of 5323 genes. S

6. Biotechnological Properties of Sponges from Northeast Brazil: Cliona varians as a Biocatalyst for Enantioselective Reduction of Carbonyl Compounds
To research the potential ability of whole marine sponges to act as biocatalysts, this paper describes for the first time the employment of whole Cliona varians sponge in the stereoselective reduction of prochiral a-keto esters and isatin to the corresponding chiral alcohols. The addition of D-fructose, D-glucose or sucrose remarkably increased the conversio

7. FATTY ACID ETHYL ESTERS FROM MICROALGAE OF Scenedesmus ecornis BY ENZYMATIC AND ACID CATALYSIS
Microalgae are an indispensable food source for the various growth stages of mollusks, crustaceans, and several fish species. Using a microalgae biomass present in the Amazonian ecosystem (Macapá-AP), we study extraction methods for fatty acid such as solvent extraction (magnetic stirring and/or Soxhlet) and/or hydrolysis (acid and/or enzymatic catalysis) f

8. Physical-Chemical Properties of the Support Immobead 150 Before and After the Immobilization Process of Lipase
We carried out the physico-chemical characterization of Immobead 150, a hydrophobic support for the immobilization of lipases. Thermomyces lanuginosus lipase (TLL) was immobilized on Immobead 150 by multipoint covalent attachment (ImmTLL) and the morphological, textural, structural, thermal, and physico-chemical properties of the support, before and after en

9. Production of flavor esters catalyzed by lipase B from Candida antarctica immobilized on magnetic nanoparticles
Abstract Candida antarctica Lipase B (CALB) immobilized onto iron magnetic nanoparticles was evaluated as biocatalyst for the synthesis of flavor esters. Methyl and ethyl butyrate were synthesized by esterification of butyric acid with methanol and ethanol, respectively, in a medium containing solvent. The nanoparticles were produced by the co-precipitation

10. Removal of reactive blue 21 and reactive red 195 dyes using horseradish peroxidase as catalyst
Abstract-Textile effluent is rich in hydrolyzed dyes that need to be removed. This study presents an evaluation of the potential of the enzyme horseradish peroxidase to remove the hydrolyzed dyes Reactive Blue 21 (RB 21) and Reactive Red 195 (RR 195) from cotton fiber and the effluent of the dyeing process. The parameters pH, dye concentration and temperatur

11. SÍNTESE ENZIMÁTICA DO CAPRILATO DE ISOPENTILA UTILIZANDO ÓLEO FÚSEL COMO MATÉRIA-PRIMA
Four commercial lipase preparations immobilized by covalent attachment on epoxy-polysiloxane-β-cyclodextrin were tested as potential biocatalysts to mediate the esterification reaction of isopentanol with caprylic acid in solvent-free medium. Among them, the immobilized lipase from Rhizopus oryzae was the most active biocatalyst, attained ester conversion h

12. POTENCIAL CATALÍTICO DE LIPASES LIGADAS AO MICÉLIO DE FUNGOS FILAMENTOSOS EM PROCESSOS DE BIOTRANSFORMAÇÃO
Over the past decades, mycelium-bound lipase of filamentous fungus has been extensively studied as an alternative biocatalyst in biotransformation processes. Mycelium-bound lipase can be used directly as suspended free cells or immobilized within biomass support particles as whole cells biocatalyst. In the latter, cells can be immobilized in situ or extra si
