1. Mineralogia e geoquímica supergênicas do urânio - Província Uranífera de Lagoa Real, Caetité - Bahia
X Ray Diffraction and Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis reveal that the following uranyl hidroxisilicates mainly constitute the uranium secondary mineralogy from albitites of the Cachoeira and Laranjeiras uranium anomalies (Lagoa Real BA Brazil): β-Uranophane-Ca[(UO2)(SiO3OH)]2.5(H2O); Uranophane-Ca[(UO2)(SiO3OH)]2.5(H2O); Sklodowskite-Mg[(UO2)(SiO3

2. Os compostos do clínquer Portland: sua caracterização por difração de raios-X e quantificação por refinamento de Rietveld. / Portland clinker phases: their characterization by X-ray diffraction and quantification by Rietveld refinement.
The project has focused on the application of X-ray diffraction (XRD) on the characterization and quantification of the Portland cement clinker crystalline compounds using the Rietveld method. The present research represents a pioneer scientific contribution on the theme in Brazil. Overall forty clinker samples from five distinct kiln lines were collected fo

3. Medida do Perfil de Dose no Alumínio Irradiado com Raios Gama de Captura de Nêutrons Térmicos Utilizando o Dosímetro Termoluminescente CaSO4:Dy / Measurement of dose profile in aluminum, irradiated wtth thermal neutron capture gamma rays, by using the termoluminescent dosimeter CaSO4:Dy

4. A chemical model for the cooperation of sulfates and carboxylates in calcite crystal nucleation: Relevance to biomineralization
Acidic matrix macromolecules involved in regulation of biological crystal growth often contain aspartic acid-rich domains and covalently bound sulfated polysaccharides. We propose that sulfates and β-sheet structured carboxylates cooperate in oriented calcite crystal nucleation. The sulfates concentrate calcium, creating the supersaturation necessary for nu

5. Microbial succession and mineral leaching in an artificial coal spoil.
An artificial pyritic coal spoil was prepared and examined over a period of 1.5 years for changes in the population of various physiological varieties of bacteria and also for mineral leaching. Heterotrophic bacteria were the first to dominate the spoil, acquiring a population of 10(7) cells per g within 2 weeks. Bacteria capable of utilizing choline sulfate
