1. Mechanical behavior of PVD coatings deposited on ADI
ABSTRACT In this work, the mechanical behavior of the coated ADI system is studied. For this purpose, single layer Ti and bilayer Ti/TiN and TiAl/TiAlN coatings, with different thicknesses, were deposited by the PVD technique of cathodic arc deposition on high strength ADI substrates using industrial and experimental devices. The characterization of the coat

2. On the Effect of Aluminum on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of CrN Coatings deposited by HiPIMS
Hard coatings are a suitable solution for increasing the lifetime of tools and components employed in different industrial applications. Coatings of transition metal nitrides have great use for tribological applications due to due to their unique mechanical properties. Although widely employed, current deposition methods such as cathodic arc evaporation prod

3. Investigation of borided layers contribution on the wear resistance and adhesion of TiN coatings
ABSTRACT The purpose of the investigation was to examine the possibility of improving tool life by reducing the wear effect and improving the adhesion of a thin film through a compound configuration that consists in boriding and PVD deposition. Single layer coatings of TiN were deposited by PVD (cathodic arc) on quenched and tempered and on borided powder me

4. Thick CrN/NbN Multilayer Coating Deposited by Cathodic Arc Technique
The production of tribological nanoscale multilayer CrN/NbN coatings up to 6 µm thick by Sputtering/HIPIMS has been reported in literature. However, high demanding applications, such as internal combustion engine parts, need thicker coatings (>30 µm). The production of such parts by sputtering would be economically restrictive due to low deposition rates.

5. Optical, mechanical and structural properties of amorphous carbon films / Propriedades opticas, mecanicas e estruturais de filmes de carbono amorfo

The ionic nitriding process presents some limitations related with the control of the thickness of the layer and its uniformity. Those limitations that happen during the process, are produced due to edge effects, damage caused by arcing arc and hollow cathode, mainly in pieces with complex geometry and under pressures in excess of 1 mbar. A new technique, de

8. Structure and properties of selected cemented carbides and cermets covered with TiN/(Ti,Al,Si)N/TiN coatings obtained by the cathodic arc evaporation process
This study presents the results of microstructural examinations, mechanical tests and service performance tests carried out on thin TiN/(Ti,Al,Si)N/TiN wear resistance coatings obtained by the CAE process on cermet and cemented carbide substrates. Microstructural examinations of the applied coatings and the substrate were made with an OPTON DSM 940 SEM and a

9. Immunochemical analysis of streptococcal group A, B, and C carbohydrates, with emphasis on group A.
Streptococcal group A, B, and C carbohydrates were analyzed by counterimmunoelectrophoresis, immunoelectrophoresis, and inhibition of immunoprecipitation. Extracts of streptococci group A or C were shown by counterimmunoelectrophoresis to contain both anodic and cathodic migrating components. In immunoelectrophoresis, group A and C substances formed a contin
