1. How much do we know about the groundwater quality and its impact on Brazilian society today?

2. Effect of the Incorporation of Sugarcane Bagasse Biochar in Leaching and Bioavailability of Clomazone in Soil
Clomazone exhibits high water solubility, low sorption in soil colloids, and therefore can leach and contaminate deep layers of soil profile and groundwater. In this work, the effect of the incorporation of sugarcane bagasse biochar in leaching and bioavailability of clomazone in red latosol was evaluated. Soil samples amended with 1% (m/m) biochar were plac

3. Assessing the sources of high fecal coliform levels at an urban tropical beach
Recreational water quality is commonly assessed by microbial indicators such as fecal coliforms. Maceió is the capital of Alagoas state, located in tropical northeastern Brazil. Its beaches are considered as the most beautiful urban beaches in the country. Jatiúca Beach in Maceió was found to be unsuitable for bathing continuously during the year of 2011.

4. Removal of diuron and hexazinone from guarany aquifer groundwater
The economy of many communities in southeastern Brazil is based on agroindustry, particularly the sugarcane industry. Recent studies have found increased use of herbicides in this type of agriculture, among which diuron and hexazinone are the most widely used. The water supply for some communities is derived entirely from the Guarany Aquifer (the world's lar

5. Determination of the presence of Barium, Lead and Crhomium in the groundwater samples colleted in the Aquifer Bauru / Determinação da presença de Bário, Chumbo e Crômio em amostras de água subterrânea coletadas no Aqüífero Bauru
The occurrence of chemical element in groundwater has a great importance in the world because of the diversity of toxic effects and wide distribution in the environment. Between these chemical elements, we can cite barium, lead and chromium that can induce diverse effects such neurotoxicity and carcinogenicity. It has been considered that the aquifer Bauru h

6. Gestão das águas subterrâneas transfronteiriças: o caso do Sistema Aquífero Guarani / Transboundary groundwater management: the case of Guarani Aquifer System
The transboundary groundwater management emerges as a new paradigm. Nowadays there is talk in much change, especially in the environmental area, but very little has been done about it. The great challenge for society in the XXI century will be how we think the water resources management. Historically the water resources management has been directed to expand

7. Modelo de gestão compartilhada de bacias hidrograficas e hidrogeologicas : estudo de caso - Aquifero Guarani / Shared management model of river basins and groundwater : a case study - Guarani Aquifer
This thesis attempts to bring the issue of management of water resources in Brazil emphasizing the groundwater, and promoting ideas and proposals for appropriate improvements on the management of these resources. Furthermore, it tries to contributing to the sustainable development and rational use of water availability. Thus, from the study of Federal Consti

8. FE(III) AS ELECTRON ACCEPTOR FOR GASOLINE-ETHANOL BIODEGRADATION IN TROPICAL RESIDUAL SOIL / FE(III) COMO ACEPTOR DE ELÉTRONS NA BIODEGRADAÇÃO DE GASOLINA-ETANOL EM SOLO TROPICAL RESIDUAL
Gasoline monoaromatic hydrocarbons (BTEX) have been detected in aquifers due to storage tank spills from gas stations that lead to their consequent dissolution on groundwater. An aggravating factor in Brazil is ethanol being used as additive to gasoline, promoting an increase on pollutants percolation in soil since it works as co-solvent and is preferentiall

9. Avaliação da suscetibilidade do aquífero freático à contaminação por necrochorume em Bonito MS / The Vulnerability Evaluation of Unconfined Aquifer by Necrochorume Contamination in Bonito MS

This study aims to provide subsidies for groundwater management at the basin of Rio Santa Maria-BHRSM. Located in the southwest of Rio Grande do Sul state, Brazil, on the edge of Paraná Basin and transitioning towards the Uruguaio Sul-Riograndense Shield, has an area of 15,797,300 square kilometers. About 16 formations occur in outcrops Pavão (2004), of wh

12. Investigação hidrogeoquímica do cromo no aquífero Adamantina no município de Urânia - SP / Hydrogeochemical investigation of chromium in the Adamantina aquifer, in the municipality of Urânia - SP, Brazil
