1. Evaluation of CTMP pulp´s behavior towards hydrogen peroxide bleaching: utilization of sub/supercritical carbon dioxide / Avaliação do comportamento de polpa CTMP frente ao branqueamento com peróxido de hidrogênio: utilização de dióxido de carbono no estado sub/supercrítico
The bleaching of chemithermomechanical pulp (CTMP) is usually performed using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in alkaline medium. This stage produces high quantity of effluent to be treated, increasing the costs of the industrial process. The usage of liquid carbon dioxide (CO2) under sub/supercritical conditions can help in reducing the amount of liquid effluents

2. Desenvolvimento do processo de biopolpação de eucalipto em escala piloto para produção de polpas termomecânicas e quimiotermomecânicas / Development of the eucaliptus biopulping process in a pilot scale to produce thermomechanical and chemithermomechanical pulps

3. Solid phase synthesis of oligoribonucleotides using the 1-[(2-chloro-4-methyl)phenyl]-4-methoxypiperidin-4-yl (Ctmp) group for the protection of the 2'-hydroxy functions and the H-phosphonate approach.
The solid phase synthesis of oligoribonucleotides using the H-phosphonate approach and the 1-[(2-chloro-4-methyl)phenyl]-4-methoxypiperidin-4-yl (Ctmp) and dimethoxytrityl (DMTr) groups, respectively, for the protection of the 2'- and 5'-hydroxy functions is described. The use of a new reagent, tris-(1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-propyl) phosphite for the prepara

4. Evaluation of 2'-hydroxyl protection in RNA-synthesis using the H-phosphonate approach.
A number of different protecting groups were compared with respect to their usefulness for protection of 2'-hydroxyl functions during synthesis of oligoribonucleotides using the H-phosphonate approach. The comparison was between the t-butyldimethylsilyl (t-BDMSi), the o-chlorobenzoyl (o-CIBz), the tetrahydropyranyl (THP), the 1-(2-fluorophenyl)-4-methoxypipe

5. Biochemical determinants of tumor sensitivity to 5-fluorouracil: Ultrasensitive methods for the determination of 5-fluoro-2′-deoxyuridylate, 2′-deoxyuridylate, and thymidylate synthetase
Techniques have been developed to measure FdUMP, the active metabolite of 5-FUra; thymidylate synthetase (TMP synthase; 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate:dUMP C-methyltransferase, EC 2.1.1.45), the target enzyme for this antimetabolite; and dUMP, the substrate that competes with FdUMP for binding to TMP synthetase. As little as 0.02 pmol of FdUMP can be quantit
