1. Case for diagnosis. Erythematous and pruritic papules on forearms,
Abstract Gamasoidosis is a poorly known and underdiagnosed mite infestation. It is characterized by the presence of erythematous and flattened papules that are quite pruritic, and can affect any region of the body, with preference for areas of folds. This article reports a case of the disease caused by mites of the species Dermanyssus gallinae. Increasingly,

2. ACTIVITY OF SOME BRAZILIAN ISOLATES OF ENTOMOPATHOGENIC FUNGI AGAINST THE POULTRY RED MITE DERMANYSSUS GALLINAE DE GEER (ACARI: DERMANYSSIDAE)
ABSTRACT Poultry red mite Dermanyssus gallinae is a cosmopolitan and hematophagous species commonly found in layer houses around the world. Poultry mite infestations may cause anemia, stress, low body weight and egg production, and mortality. Mite control is typically based on chemical products, but they are not effective and leave residues in eggs; therefor

Dermanyssus gallinae ingurgitated protonymphs were submited to laminar flow winds or rubber septa stopper (RSS) containing hexanic or dichloromethanic conspecific extracts in a discriminant olfactometer. The D. gallinae feeded protonymphs latency time (akinetic response) and the time for these mites to leave the test area in olfactometer was similar (p0,05)

The purpose of this work was to study the biological cycle of D. gallinae in the laboratory at temperatures of 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35ºC, to determine the fecundity, the fertility and the influence of fasting on fertility, as well as the thermal requirements for D. gallinae. The mean cycle duration of the different phases (in hours), at different temperatures

8. Phylogeny of hard- and soft-tick taxa (Acari: Ixodida) based on mitochondrial 16S rDNA sequences.
Ticks are parasitiform mites that are obligate hematophagous ectoparasites of amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. A phylogeny for tick families, subfamilies, and genera has been described based on morphological characters, life histories, and host associations. To test the existing phylogeny, we sequenced approximately 460 bp from the 3' end of the mit
