1. Performance Analysis of Small Grid Connected Photovoltaic Systems
Abstract The acceptance and deployment of electric power from sustainable sources, which are less polluting than fossils, have been a consensus throughout society. Specially, the growth of the installed capacity in photovoltaic energy has been considerable in distributed generation. In order to properly take advantage of this growing demand, it is necessary

2. Distributed memory organization with support for data migration for noc-based MPSOCS / Distributed memory organization with support for data migration for noc-based MPSOCS
The evolution in the deployment of semiconductor technology has enabled the development of System-on-Chip (SoCs) that integrate several processing elements (PEs) and memory modules in a single chip. SoCs that integrate several PEs are referred as Multiprocessor System-on-Chip (MPSoCs). As the number of PEs increases in an MPSoC, techniques that present low e

3. DEPLOYMENT OF DISTRIBUTED, MULTI-LANGUAGE AND MULTI-PLATFORM COMPONENT-BASED SOFTWARE / IMPLANTAÇÃO DE COMPONENTES DE SOFTWARE DISTRIBUÍDOS MULTI-LINGUAGEM E MULTI-PLATAFORMA

4. UMA INFRA-ESTRUTURA PARA A EXECUÇÃO DISTRIBUÍDA DE COMPONENTES DE SOFTWARE / AN INFRASTRUCTURE FOR DISTRIBUTED EXECUTION OF SOFTWARE COMPONENTS
Support infrastructures for component-based software systems usually include facilities for installation, execution and dynamic configuration of the system component`s dependencies. Such facilities are specially important when those system components execute in a distributed environment. In this work, we investigate some of the problems that must be handled

5. MODEL-DRIVEN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT: ADAPTABILITY AND INTEROPERABILITY ON END-TO-END QOS SUPPORT / GERENCIAMENTO DE RECURSOS DIRIGIDO POR MODELOS: ADAPTABILIDADE E INTEROPERABILIDADE NO SUPORTE A QOS FIM-A-FIM
The evolution of codification techniques for continuous media is making distributed multimedia applications even more popular. This kind of application has performance requirements that must be met in an end-to-end fashion, which can be achieved only if quality-of-service (QoS) provisioning mechanisms are applied on each participant subsystem. These mechanis

6. Improving traceability in agent oriented development
Requirements engineering has argued that in order to successfully develop complex software systems, it is necessary to support the modeling process with traceability mechanisms and tools. Requirement Traceability refers to the ability to ensure continued alignment between stakeholdersâ requirements and various outputs of the systems development process. A r

7. Using agents and ontologies for application development on the semantic web
The Semantic Web provides access to heterogeneous, distributed information, enabling software products to mediate between user needs and the information sources available. Agents are one of the most promising technologies for the development of Semantic Web software products. However, agent-based technologies will not become widespread until there are adequa

8. Hermes: a framework for P2P application programming / Hermes: um arcabouço para a programação de aplicações P2P
Hermes is a framework for P2P application programming. Using it, one can create several kinds of distributed applications without worrying about the underlying network. Hermes is not a P2P overlay network implementation, but a shell envolving existing implementations. The application developer is isolated from the implementation of the overlay network in use

9. UM FRAMEWORK DE SISTEMAS MULTI-AGENTES PARA APLICAÇÕES RFID / A MULTI-AGENT SYSTEMS FRAMEWORK FOR RFID APPLICATIONS
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology along with the Electronic Product Code (EPC) created a new complex environment for warehouses systems and supply chain systems in general. The EPC specification created one more level of identification: the product instance. This new level of identification had blown the volume of data being managed by applica

10. Otimização da configuração e operação de sistemas médicos emergenciais em rodovias utilizando o modelo hipercubo.
The purpose of this study is to develop effective methods to analyze the configuration and operation of the emergency medical systems (EMS) on highways. Due to the stochastic nature of these systems, especially in the arrival and assistance processes of the emergency calls, we apply the Hypercube Queuing Model to evaluate the performance measures of the syst

11. Emergency response to an anthrax attack
We developed a mathematical model to compare various emergency responses in the event of an airborne anthrax attack. The system consists of an atmospheric dispersion model, an age-dependent dose–response model, a disease progression model, and a set of spatially distributed two-stage queueing systems consisting of antibiotic distribution and hospital care.
