1. Gut microflora and intestinal morphology changes of broiler chickens fed reducing dietary protein supplemented with lysine, methionine, and threonine in tropical environment
ABSTRACT This experiment aimed to discover the effect of reducing dietary protein supplemented with lysine, methionine, and threonine on growth performance, volatile fatty acid profile, and intestinal villus height and crypt depth of broilers, as well as the microflora counts isolated from broiler chicken faeces. A total of 288-day-old broilers were allocate

2. Effects of Nutrient Density and exogenous enzymesin Starter Diet on Performance, Intestinal Microflora, Gut Morphology and Immune Response of Broiler Chickens
ABSTRACT A total of 810 one-day-old, straight-run broilers were used to evaluate the effects of dietary nutrient density and feed additives included in the starter diet on their performance, intestinal microbiota, gut morphology, and immune response. A 3×3 factorial arrangement with three nutrient densities (100, 103.75 and 107.5%, as recommended) and three

3. Effect of incubation system on the development of intestinal villi, metabolism, and performance of one- to forty-day-old broiler chickens
ABSTRACT An experiment was performed to evaluate the effect of the incubation system ― multiple-stage (MS) and single-stage (SS) ― on the characteristics at hatching, intestinal morphology, metabolism, and performance of Cobb-500 chickens from 1 to 40 d of age. A total of 1,968 fertile eggs were incubated in two setters under commercial conditions. Birds

4. Effects of methionine source, arginine: lysine ratio and sodium chloride level in the diets of grower broilers reared under high-temperature conditions
The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of methionine sources (DL-methionine 99% powder (DLM) or methionine hydroxy analog liquid 88% (HMTBA)), arginine:lysine (Arg:Lys) ratio and sodium chloride (NaCl) content in the diet of broilers on their performance, carcass yield, serum biochemistry, duodenal mucosal morphology, and immune response.

5. Diferentes alternativas no controle da diarréia pós-desmame em leitões / Different alternatives for diarrhea control in postweanling piglets

6. Influence of egg pre-storage heating period and storage length on the digestive tract of newly-hatched broiler chicks
An experiment was carried out to evaluate the effect of different heating times of settable eggs of Cobb 500® broiler breeders before submitting them to different storage periods on body weight, digestive tract organ weights, and intestinal mucosa morphology of newly-hatched chicks. Settable eggs were distributed in a completely randomized experimental desi

7. Nutrição pós-eclosão de frangos de corte / Post-hatch nutrition of broiler chickens
It were performed two experiments with the aim of evaluate the effects of posthatch nutrition of broiler chickens. In the first trial were evaluated the effects of feeding a pre-starter diet (PSD) on duodenal morphology (DM), live performance (LP), and carcass yield (CY). Nine hundred and sixty day-old male Cobb-500 broiler, with two different weights at hou

8. Estereologia e ultra-estrutura da mucosa da parte proximal do duodeno de camundongos submetidos ao alcoolismo experimental / Stereology and ultrastructure of the mucosa of mouse proximal duodenum submitted to experimental alcoholism
A1coholism consists in one of the greatest problems of pharmacodependence, generating one of the main concerns in world public health. Several gastrointestinal complications decurres from alcoholic beverage consumption. The recent scientific studies enphasys is concentrated in substances that can interfere on preservation, maintenance and function of the int

9. Activity of duodenal disaccharidases in relation to normal and abnormal mucosal morphology.
Endoscopic duodenal biopsy specimens from 100 predominantly adult Caucasian patients under investigation for gastrointestinal symptoms were used to establish reference ranges for lactase, sucrase, and maltase in the duodenum. Duodenal and jejunal disaccharidase values were compared and the association between disaccharidase activity and morphology in the duo

10. The pattern of involvement of the gastric mucosa in lymphocytic gastritis is predictive of the presence of duodenal pathology.
AIM: To determine whether the pattern of involvement of the gastric mucosa in lymphocytic gastritis is predictive of the presence or absence of duodenal pathology. METHODS: 50 cases (M:F, 26:24; median age 57 years) diagnosed as lymphocytic gastritis between 1986 and 1998 with concurrent duodenal (D2) biopsies were identified from a computer search of the pa

11. Infantile enteritis viruses: morphogenesis and morphology.
A new virus was found to be associated with acute gastroenteritis in children. In duodenal biopsies, it was observed infecting only intestinal epithelial cells, and it resembled orbiviruses in its morphogenesis. For diagnsotic purposes the virus was readily demonstrated by negative staining of fecal extracts. Two forms of particles were seen: double-sheeled

12. Simultaneous in situ hybridisation of native mRNA and immunoglobulin detection by conventional immunofluorescence in paraffin wax embedded sections.
AIMS: The development of a technique for simultaneous in situ hybridisation for native mRNA and conventional immunofluorescence for cytoplasmic antigens in routine pathology specimens. METHODS: Cocktails of synthetic deoxyoligonucleotides coding for immunoglobulin J chain and kappa light chain were 3' end labelled enzymatically with digoxigenin using termina
