1. Avaliação da interação entre Methylobacterium spp. e citros / Evaluation of the interaction between Methylobacterium spp. and citrus

2. Diversidade de rizobactérias endoglicolíticas isoladas de mangue vermelho (Rhizophora mangle). / Diversity of endoglucolytic rhizobacteria isolated from red mangrove (Rhizophora mangle).

3. An Endoglucanase, EglA, from the Hyperthermophilic Archaeon Pyrococcus furiosus Hydrolyzes β-1,4 Bonds in Mixed-Linkage (1→3),(1→4)-β-d-Glucans and Cellulose
The eglA gene, encoding a thermostable endoglucanase from the hyperthermophilic archaeon Pyrococcus furiosus, was cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli. The nucleotide sequence of the gene predicts a 319-amino-acid protein with a calculated molecular mass of 35.9 kDa. The endoglucanase has a 19-amino-acid signal peptide but not cellulose-binding domain. T

4. EglC, a New Endoglucanase from Aspergillus niger with Major Activity towards Xyloglucan
A novel gene, eglC, encoding an endoglucanase, was cloned from Aspergillus niger. Transcription of eglC is regulated by XlnR, a transcriptional activator that controls the degradation of polysaccharides in plant cell walls. EglC is an 858-amino-acid protein and contains a conserved C-terminal cellulose-binding domain. EglC can be classified in glycoside hydr

5. The Transcriptional Activator XlnR Regulates Both Xylanolytic and Endoglucanase Gene Expression in Aspergillus niger
The expression of genes encoding enzymes involved in xylan degradation and two endoglucanases involved in cellulose degradation was studied at the mRNA level in the filamentous fungus Aspergillus niger. A strain with a loss-of-function mutation in the xlnR gene encoding the transcriptional activator XlnR and a strain with multiple copies of this gene were in

6. Clostridium beijerinckii Cells Expressing Neocallimastix patriciarum Glycoside Hydrolases Show Enhanced Lichenan Utilization and Solvent Production
Growth and the production of acetone, butanol, and ethanol by Clostridium beijerinckii NCIMB 8052 on several polysaccharides and sugars were analyzed. On crystalline cellulose, growth and solvent production were observed only when a mixture of fungal cellulases was added to the medium. On lichenan growth and solvent production occurred, but this polymer was

7. Stable Escherichia coli-Clostridium acetobutylicum Shuttle Vector for Secretion of Murine Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha
Recombinant plasmids were constructed to secrete mouse tumor necrosis factor alpha (mTNF-α) from Clostridium acetobutylicum. The shuttle plasmids contained the clostridial endo-β1,4-glucanase (eglA) promoter and signal sequence that was fused in frame to the mTNF-α cDNA. The construction was first tested in Escherichia coli and then introduced in C. aceto

8. Insertion or Deletion of the Cheo Box Modifies Radiation Inducibility of Clostridium Promoters
Radiation-inducible promoters are being used in many viral vector systems to obtain spatial and temporal control of gene expression. It was previously proven that radiation-induced gene expression can also be obtained in a bacterial vector system using anaerobic apathogenic clostridia. The effect of radiation inducibility was detected using mouse tumor necro
