1. Comparative leaf morpho-anatomy of six species of Eucalyptus cultivated in Brazil
ABSTRACT The present work provides a comparative account of the morpho-anatomy of six species of Eucalyptus, namely E. badjensis Beuzev. & Welch, E. benthamii Maiden & Cambage, E. dunnii Maiden, E. grandis W.Hill, E. globulus Labill. and E. saligna Sm., Myrtaceae. Leaf samples of these six species were investigated by light and scanning electron microscopy.

2. Wastewater treatment in a pilot-scale submerged membrane bioreactor: study of hydrodynamics under constant operating pressure
Abstract A pilot-scale Submerged Membrane Bioreactor provided with PEI hollow fiber membranes was operated under constant pressure mode in order to evaluate the effects of hydrodynamic conditions on the process performance, such as air flow rate, module packing density and aeration configuration. For the three different air flow rates studied (2, 5 and 8 L/m

4. Sodium lignosulphonate as agent of modification of lignocellulosic fiber surface and formulation of phenolic thermoset / Lignosulfonato de sódio como agente de modificação da superfície de fibras lignocelulósicas e da formulação de termorrígido fenólico
Due to the great current interest in biocomposites because of both the use of lignocellulosic fibers as reinforcers of polymer matrices and the production of matrices prepared from renewable raw material, this study has sought to improve the properties of phenolic thermosets using sodium lignosulphonate as a macromonomer, and the insertion of sisal fibers, e

5. Instantons in curved spaces / Instantons em espaços curvos
In this work we study instanton solutions of the Yang-Mills theory in Schwarzschild and Reissner-Nordstrom spaces with gauge group SU(2).Instantons are solutions to the classical field equations of Yang-Mills theory defined in a space with Riemannian (positive de finite)metric with finite action. We begin with a review of the geometric setting of Yang-Mills

6. Coincidence of maps on Klein bottle Fiiber bundles over the Ciircle. / Coincidência de aplicações em fibrados com base circulo e fibra garrafa de Klein.
Let K be the Klein bottle and let K M S be a Klein bottle bundle over S 1 . In this work we study the following question: given a pair of fiber preserving maps over S^ , when can it be deformed by a fiberwise homotopy over S into a pair of coincidence free fiber preserving maps over S^, (f^{} , g^{} ) ?

7. Influência da distância inter-pilar e tipos de fibras de reforço na resistência à fratura de próteses adesivas indiretas
This study evaluated the fracture strength of fiber-reinforced composite inlay fixed partial dentures according to the pontic distance and the type of fiberreinforcement. One hundred and twenty bovine incisors were selected and grounded with 600-grit silicon paper to get an incisor platform, simulating a human molar incisal surface. The teeth were included i

8. Evaluation of in vitro human gingival fibroblasts on the acellular dermal matrix / Avaliação in vitro do cultivo de fibroblastos gengivais humanos em matriz dérmica acelular
Acellular Dermal Matrix, ADM, is a biomaterial that has been used in periodontal procedures to treat mucogingival defects. Mucogingival defects can be corrected by autogenous grafts that are the most common procedure used in periodontology, however, because of the limited source of donors tissue this procedure became limited. The aim of this investigation wa

9. Quantificação morfoanatomica de laminas foliares de genótipos de Panicum maximum
The anatomy of the grass, related to the morphology and chemical composition of the leaf blades, can have influence in the intake and digestibilidade, intervening with the quality of the forage. Nine genotypes of Panicum maximum were evaluated at Embrapa Beef Cattle and Nucleus of Agricultural Sciences as to agronomic, chemical characteristics of leaves and

10. Some Cohomology Classes in Principal Fiber Bundles and Their Application to Riemannian Geometry
We define some new global invariants of a fiber bundle with a connection. They are cohomology classes in the principal fiber bundle that are defined when certain characteristic curvature forms vanish. In the case of the principal tangent bundle of a riemannian manifold, they are invariant under a conformal transformation of the metric. They give necessary co

11. Compressive nonlinearity in the hair bundle's active response to mechanical stimulation
The auditory system's ability to interpret sounds over a wide range of amplitudes rests on the nonlinear responsiveness of the ear. Whether measured by basilar-membrane vibration, nerve-fiber activity, or perceived loudness, the ear is most sensitive to small signals and grows progressively less responsive as stimulation becomes stronger. Seeking a corr
