1. Morphology Behavior of Copper Films Deposited after Wet Surface Treatment on Polished Alumina
In this paper, a pre-treatment process for electroless copper (Cu) deposition on the polished alumina (Al2O3) 99.9% and the behavior of Cu plating by electroless process after Al2O3 surface treatment were explored. Our work was carried out by changing the roughness of Al2O3 through micro-etching (coarsening), nucleation its surface by a two-step method (sens

2. Effect of Growth Parameters on the Photocatalytic Performance of TiO2 Films Prepared by MOCVD
The present study evaluated the main factors that influence the photocatalytic activity of titanium dioxide (TiO2) films grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) at 400 and 500 °C, in different growth times. The photocatalytic behavior was analyzed by measuring the methyl orange dye degradation at different pH values. Structural and morpholog

3. Evaluation of Carbon Nanotubes/Polyaniline Thin Films for Development of Electrochemical Sensors
Thin films of multiwalled carbon nanotubes/polyaniline nanocomposites (CNT/PAni) were synthesized through the liquid/liquid (L/L) interfacial route, deposited over glass substrates, and evaluated through cyclic voltammetry and amperometry as electrochemical sensor, using L-ascorbic acid as probe. Films with three different CNT/PAni ratios have been prepared.

4. Structural and Functional Stabilization of Sericin from Bombyx mori Cocoons in a Biopolysaccharide Film: Bioorigami for Skin Regeneration
Development and optimization of a bioorigami film with silk sericin was pursued for skin regeneration. Several formulations were produced, with varying integrated sericin contents, viz. 0, 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 mgsericin mLfilm-1. The physico-chemical characteristics of the bioorigami films produced were evaluated via infrared spectrophotometry, X-ray diffr

5. Corrosion Resistance of Cu-Alloyed Precipitation Hardenable Duplex Stainless Steel ASTM A890 Grade 1B
Duplex stainless steels (DSS) are corrosion resistant alloys largely used in chemical and petrochemical industries. Some commercial DSS contain 0.5-1.0% copper addition to improve the corrosion resistance by reducing the corrosion rate in non-oxidizing environments. Higher copper addition (≥ 2%) can also hard by precipitation, especially when fine copper p

6. Influence of the Pre-Treatments and Process Temperature on the Adhesion of TiN Films Deposited by PBII&D Over Nitrided Austenitic Stainless Steel
In this work the influence of pre-treatment cleaning processes in the adhesion of TiN films deposited by the plasma based ion implantation and deposition (PBII&D) process over plasma nitrided AISI 316L stainless steel was investigated, varying the gas composition, the duration of the sputtering process and the temperature in the same deposition chamber. The

7. Influence of different formulation variables on the performance of transdermal drug delivery system containing tizanidine hydrochloride: in vitro and ex vivo evaluations
The present study was aimed at preparation of transdermal patches of tizanidine HCl, evaluation of the effect of polymers on in vitro release pattern of the drug, and the effect of permeation enhancers on the penetration of the drug through the rabbit skin. Various proportions of hydrophilic (HPMC) and hydrophobic (Eudragit L-100) polymers were used with PEG

8. Stability and in vivo efficiency of natural cosmetic emulsion systems with the addition of vegetable oils
The aim of the paper is to test stability and biophysical properties of hydrophilic and lipophilic emulsions with selected vegetable seed oils: Limnanthes alba, Prunus amygdalus dulcis, Cannabis sativa, Rosa rubiginosa and Hellianthus annuus. Biophysical properties of emulsions are investigated in vivo using non-invasive instrumental methods (corneometry, te

9. Study of the Corrosive Behavior of the AISI 1020 Steel in Acid Crude Oil by Microscopic Techniques (LM, AFM and SEM/EDX) and Raman Spectroscopy
Microscopic techniques were combined to study the influence of corrosion rate on the morphologic behavior of AISI 1020 steel specimens submitted to thermal degradation of a typical acid crude oil (total acid number (TAN) = 2.1390 mg KOH g-1 and total sulfur (S) = 0.7778 wt.%). The techniques used were light microscopy (LM), scanning electron microscopy/energ

10. Efecto de la concentración del silano MTMO sobre la protección contra la corrosión de acero electrocincado
ABSTRACT Superficial pretreatments based on silanes are one of the prominent alternatives to replace chromates as temporary protectors from the action of aggressive environments to metallic substrates. The barrier effect afforded by the silane film makes porosity, thickness and film homogeneity important issues in the protective effect. In the present work,

11. Obtención y caracterización de recubrimientos de biovidrio sobre la aleación de Mg AZ31
ABSTRACT The ideal material for a metal bone prosthesis must undergo a gradual corrosion in vivo, without releasing toxic components, while acting as a support and facilitating the growth of bone tissue, until a replacement is completed by the regenerated bone. . Biodegradable magnesium alloys have been studied because of their excellent mechanical propertie

12. Preparation of Antireflective Silica Coating by the Sol-Gel Method for Heliothermic Power Plants
This work deals with the deposition of a thin layer of porous silica antireflective coating onto glass substrates. The films were deposited with different withdrawal speeds and heat-treated at 425°C for 30 minutes. The effects of heat treatment and film deposition rate on the films reflectance were evaluated. The diffuse reflectance was measured using ultra
