1. Mycotoxin contamination of diets for beef cattle finishing in feedlot
ABSTRACT The objective of this survey was to identify what mycotoxins were present in ingredients used in diets offered to beef cattle in feedlots and their concentrations. The survey covered 30 Brazilian feedlots located in the five major beef-producing states. Samples of total mixed ration (TMR) and ingredients were collected and analyzed for mycotoxin usi

3. Effects of fed mycotoxin contaminated diets supplemented with spray-dried porcine plasma on cholinergic response and behavior in piglets
Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of spray-dried porcine plasma (SDPP) supplementation on cholinesterase enzymes and its relationship with animal behavior of weaning piglets exposed to mycotoxin contaminated diets. To achieve these objectives, two experimental design approaches were used. Male piglets (7.15±0.61kg) were allocated in

4. Validation and application of an analytical method for the determination of mycotoxins in crackers by UPLC-MS/MS
Abstract An analytical method applying ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) was validated for the determination of aflatoxins M2, M1, G2, G1, B2, B1, deoxynivalenol, ochratoxin A, fumonisins B1 and B2, hydrolyzed fumonisins B1 and B2, zearalenone and sterigmatocystin in crackers. The obtained recoveries (70 to 110%) a

5. Leukoencephalomalacia in horses associated with immature corn consumption

6. Aflatoxins and fumonisins in feed from a broiler operation system from São Paulo state, Brazil

7. Effect of fungicide on Fusarium verticillioidesmycelial morphology and fumonisin B1 production
The effect of fludioxonil + metalaxyl-M on the mycelial morphology, sporulation and fumonisin B1 production by Fusarium verticillioides 103 F was evaluated. Scanning electron microscopy analysis showed that the fungicide caused inhibition of hyphal growth and defects on hyphae morphology such as cell wall disruption, withered hyphae, and excessive septation.

8. Fusarium species and fumonisins associated with maize kernels produced in Rio Grande do Sul State for the 2008/09 and 2009/10 growing seasons
Ear rots caused by Fusarium spp. are among the main fungal diseases that contribute to poor quality and the contamination of maize grains with mycotoxins. This study aimed to determine the visual incidence of fungal-damaged kernels (FDKs), the incidence of two main Gibberella (a teleomorph of Fusarium) complexes (G. fujikuroi and G. zeae) associated with mai

Brazil is the thrid worldwide producer of corn kernel (Zea mays L.), only behind of the United States of América and China. The causal agents of ears and stalk rot are fungi like Stenocarpella maydis, Fusarium spp and Penicillium oxalicum, worth mentioning to the Fusarium species, specially the complex Giberrela fugikuori species. These species, usually rel

11. Fungos e fumonisinas no período pré-colheita do milho / Fungi and fumonisins at maize’s pre-harvest period

The purpose of this experiment was to determine the impact of gamma radiation on the control of toxigenic fungi and mycotoxins (aflatoxin and fumonisin) found in broiler chicken feed. Results show that irradiation of feed with 5 kGy was effective on the control of deleterious effects caused by mycotoxins on performance parameters, hematological and biochemic
