1. Follicular thyroid carcinoma metastatic to skin: a small papule and a big diagnostic change
Abstract: Cutaneous metastases are uncommon in daily practice, although very important, since they may be the first manifestation of an undiscovered primary neoplasm or the first indication of recurrence. Cutaneous metastases from the breast are the most frequent in women and cutaneous metastases from the lung are the most frequent in men. Thyroid carcinoma,

2. Cytotoxic and pro-apoptotic action of MjTX-I, a phospholipase A2 isolated from Bothrops moojeni snake venom, towards leukemic cells
Abstract Background: Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a BCR-ABL1+ myeloproliferative neoplasm marked by increased myeloproliferation and presence of leukemic cells resistant to apoptosis. The current first-line therapy for CML is administration of the tyrosine kinase inhibitors imatinib mesylate, dasatinib or nilotinib. Although effective to treat CML, som

3. Aggressive papillary thyroid carcinoma in a child with type 2 congenital generalized lipodystrophy
SUMMARY Thyroid carcinoma (TC) is rare in children, particularly in those aged < 10 years. Several studies have demonstrated a correlation between neoplasms and hyperinsulinemia and insulin resistance, which are often associated with a higher risk for and/or aggressiveness of the neoplasm. Congenital generalized lipodystrophy (CGL) with autosomal recessive i

4. Thyroid nodule: first manifestation of chronic lymphocytic leukaemia
The presence of chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) cells in the thyroid gland is most likely due to a secondary involvement by a systemic disease. The reported incidence of CLL involving the thyroid is extremely low, representing about 3–4% of all thyroid lymphoproliferative neoplasm. We report a rare case of CLL presenting initially in the thyroid gland.

5. The Occurrence of Primary Hepatic Adenoma in Deceased Donor Renal Transplant Recipient
Main findings: We reported a case of new-onset, multi-focal hepatic adenoma in an 18 year-old man with no classic risk factors occurring forty months after a renal transplant from a cadaver donor. Histopathology of the adenoma was examined and genotype and phenotype were also analyzed. Histopathologic examination of the adenoma showed no malignancy. Genotyp

6. Atypical chronic myeloid leukemia with t(9;22)(p24,11.2), a BCR-JAK2 fusion gene
We report here on a rare case of BCR-ABL1-negative atypical chronic myeloid leukemia with a t(9;22)(p24;q11.2)translocation and a BCR-JAK2 fusion gene, with resistance to the tyrosine kinase inhibitors imatinib and dasatinib. At two years of follow-up, the patient showed no hematologic response and was submitted to

7. Espectro tumoral e alterações moleculares associadas à tumorigênese em portadores da mutação TP53 R337H / Tumor spectrum and molecular changes associated to tumorigenesis in carriers of TP53 R337H mutation

8. Efeito da hepatectomia parcial associada à administração de fatores nutricionais hepatotróficos sobre a morfologia, função e expressão de genes pró-fibróticos na cirrose hepática em ratos Wistar induzida por tiocetamida / Effects of partial hepatectomy associated with administration of nutritional hepatotrophic factors in morphology, function and expression of pro-fibrotic genes in thioacetamide-induced liver cirrhosis in Wistar rats
The current study evaluated the role of parenteral solution of nutritional hepatotrophic factors in animals with cirrhosis undergoing partial hepatectomy. This procedure is fearful in these animals due to the possibility of acute liver failure, since removal of a liver fragment further reduces the functional capacity of an already compromised organ. Moreover

9. Transferência gênica de p19Arf e interferon-b em células de melanoma. / Gene transfer of p19Arf and interferon-b in melanoma cells.

10. Análise do perfil de hipermetilação do gene PTEN e correlação com fatores clínicos anatomopatológicos no carcinoma de células renais / Analysis of hypermethylation profile of PTEN gene and correlation with clinical and pathological findings in renal cell carcinoma

INTRODUCTION: Breast cancer is a leading cause of death among women all over the Word. Proliferative lesions of the breast are believed to be precursors of or markers of increased risk for breast carcinoma. Although the active research in the field of breast cancer, the early molecular events associated with cancer evolution and progression are still poorly

12. HOXB5 expression in oral squamous cell carcinoma
Human HOX genes encode transcription factors that act as master regulators of embryonic development. They are important in several processes such as cellular morphogenesis and differentiation. The HOXB5 gene in particular has been reported in some types of neoplasm, but not in oral cancer. OBJECTIVE: The present study investigated the expression of HOXB5 in
