1. Antioxidant effect of the indol-3-acetic acid in liver of mice submitted to the induced hepatocarcinogenesis / Efeito antioxidante do ácido indol-3-acético sobre fígado de camundongos submetidos à hepatocarcinogênese induzida

Com, or maize (Zea mays L.), is the world third leading cereal crop, after wheat and rice. The United States produces nearly 40% of the total world production. The next largest comproducing countries are the People s Republic of China and Brazil. Argentinean com accounts for 2 percent of the total world production. In Argentina com occupies a third of the cu

4. Hepatitis B virus transactivator MHBst: activation of NF-kappa B, selective inhibition by antioxidants and integral membrane localization.
C-terminal truncation of the middle surface antigen from hepatitis B virus (MHBs) gives rise to a novel transactivating protein, called MHBst. In this study we show that MHBst like the HBx protein of HBV, can cause nuclear appearance of NF-kappa B DNA binding activity and induce various kappa B-controlled reporter genes. While an inhibitor of protein kinase

5. Fumonisins--novel mycotoxins with cancer-promoting activity produced by Fusarium moniliforme.
Cultures on corn of Fusarium moniliforme MRC 826 are known to cause leukoencephalomalacia in horses and to be toxic and hepatocarcinogenic in rats. Culture material of this F. moniliforme isolate has also been shown to exhibit cancer-promoting activity in a short-term cancer initiation-promotion bioassay with diethylnitrosamine-initiated rats and the inducti

6. Differential DNase I sensitivity of the albumin and alpha-fetoprotein genes in chromatin from rat tissues and cell lines.
We have examined the DNase I sensitivity of the albumin and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) genes in different rat tissues (adult liver and kidney) and cloned cell lines (hepatoma 7777-C8, JF1 fibroblasts), which show drastic differences in the level of expression of these two genes. This was done by studying the disappearance of defined restriction endonuclease fra
