1. TiO2 Decorated Sand Grains for Photodegradation of Pollutants: Methylene Blue and Ciprofloxacin Study
This study shows a preparation and evaluation of a new non-expensive TiO2 based photocatalyst built over sand grains surfaces as an alternative green technology for water treatment. The semiconductor covalently bonded to the silica sand grains (sand@TiO2) prepared by hydrolysis of isopropoxide orthotitane over sand grains, showed a high surface area 296 m2 g

2. Impact of artificial lighting on the ecosystem / Influência da iluminação artificial sobre a vida silvestre: técnicas para minimizar os impactos, com especial enfoque sobre os insetos
The impact of light pollution on man and on the ecosystem is a rising concern among ecologists however, in the same time the human population is demanding more lighting for safety and comfort. In order to satisfy human lighting needs with a minimum impact on the ecosystem, manly on insects, we tested commercial equipments using different types of lights and

3. ESPECIAÇÃO DE COMPOSTOS DE ARSÊNIO EM ÁGUAS E FLUIDOS BIOLÓGICOS EMPREGANDO PRÉ-TRATAMENTO FOTOQUÍMICO E MÉTODOS VOLTAMÉTRICOS / SPECIATION OF ARSENIC COMPOUNDS IN WATER AND BIOLOGICAL FLUIDS BY PHOTOCHEMICAL PRETREATMENT AND VOLTAMMETRIC METHODS
The presence of arsenic as a contaminant in water and biological fluids has been studied in recent years due to the high toxicity of this element. In this work a method for the selective determination of arsenic species was developed, which is based on the determination of As(III) directly in the samples and on the determination of total arsenic after a phot

4. Corneal endothelial changes under induced intraocular pressure elevation: a scanning and transmission electron microscopic study in rabbits.
Intraocular pressure was artificially raised to 60--70 mmHg in 7 albino rabbits for periods of 15 minutes to 4 hours. The corneal endothelium of these eyes was studied by transmission and scanning electron microscopy. A correlation between exposure time to elevated IOP, clinical signs observed by slit-lamp examination, and extent of morphological damage is c
