1. OTIMIZAÇÃO DO PROCESSO DE SECAGEM NA MANUFATURA DE FITAS ADESIVAS / OPTIMIZATION OF DRYING PROCESS IN THE MANUFACTURING OF ADHESIVE TAPES
In the manufacturing process of adhesive tapes usually there is a step where the solvents of solution are evaporated in order to allow the formation of a semisolid layer of material over a suitable substrate. As the final product requires high coating weight and solvent concentration on adhesive solution is high as well, the drying becomes, most of the time,

2. Energy Coupling in the Transport of β-Galactosides by Escherichia Coli: Effect of Proton Conductors
Escherichia coli accumulates thiomethyl-β-d-galactoside against a concentration gradient under anaerobic conditions. The accumulation was abolished by carbonylcyanide m-chlorophenylhydrazone, tetrachlorosalicylanilide, 2,4 dinitrophenol, and other uncouplers of oxidative phosphorylation even though oxidative phosphorylation would not be expected to occur an

3. Inhibition of Membrane Transport in Streptococcus faecalis by Uncouplers of Oxidative Phosphorylation and Its Relationship to Proton Conduction
We studied the effect of compounds that uncouple oxidative phosphorylation on membrane function in Streptoccocus faecalis, an organism which relies upon glycolysis for the generation of metabolic energy. At low concentrations (ranging from 10−7 to 10−4m), tetrachlorosalicylanilide, tetramethyldipicrylamine, carbonylcyanide m-chlorophenylhydrazone, pentac

4. Endogenous intracellular glutathionyl radicals are generated in neuroblastoma cells under hydrogen peroxide oxidative stress.
We report the detection of endogenous intracellular glutathionyl (GS.) radicals in the intact neuroblastoma cell line NCB-20 under oxidative stress. Spin-trapping and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopic methods were used for monitoring the radicals. The cells incubated with the spin trap 5,5-dimethyl-1-pyrroline 1-oxide (DMPO) were challenged

5. Dihydrofolate Reductase from Neisseria sp
Members of the genus Neisseria are relatively nonsusceptible to trimethoprim, an inhibitor of dihydrofolate reductase. For example, the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of trimethoprim for N. gonorrhoeae ranges from 2 to 70 μg/ml, whereas the MIC for Escherichia coli is 0.2 μg/ml or less. In an effort to understand this difference, dihydrofolate redu
