1. Seasonal changes in the distribution and abundance of marine cladocerans of the Northwest Alboran Sea (Western Mediterranean), Spain
The annual cycle of marine cladocerans was studied over six years from 1994 to 1999 within the frame of the monitoring Project ECOMALAGA at a nine stations in the NW of the Alboran Sea, with the aim of assessing seasonal patterns and interannual trends in distribution and abundance of marine cladocerans. Seven species (Penilia avirostris, Evadne nordmanni, E

3. THE INFLUENCE OF ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS ON THE SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL DISTRIBUTION OF MARINE CLADOCERANS (CRUSTACEA, BRANCHIOPODA) IN AN ESTUARY OF UBATUBA, SP / INFLUÃNCIA DE FATORES AMBIENTAIS SOBRE A DISTRIBUIÃÃO TEMPORAL E ESPACIAL DE CLADÃCEROS MARINHOS (CRUSTACEA, BRANCHIOPODA) EM UM ESTUÃRIO DE UBATUBA, SP
The aim of the present study is to analyse the occurrence and the horizontal-temporal distribution of marine cladocerans in a shallow estuarine region associated to a mangrove forest, and to verify the possible influence of environmental factors on the temporal variation of the species. In the period from July 2004 to June 2005, zooplankton samples were take

4. Diel changes in embryonic maturation in two species of marine cladocerans in Guanabara Bay, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Two species of marine cladocerans, Penilia avirostris Dana, 1852 and Evadne tergestina Claus, 1877 were collected in thirteen samples at a fixed station in Guanabara Bay, Rio de Janeiro (30-meter depth) by means of vertical tows with a 200 µm mesh size net at different times from September 12th to 15th, 1995. The parthenogenetic females of Evadne tergestina

5. Distribution and significance of heterotrophic marine bacteria with antibacterial activity.
Bacteria with antibacterial activity were isolated from seawater, sediments, phytoplankton, and zooplankton of Suruga, Sagami, and Tokyo Bays and from soft corals and sponges collected from the Taiwan coast. Of the 726 strains isolated, 37 showed antibacterial activity against either Vibrio parahaemolyticus (ATCC 17802) or Staphylococcus aureus (P209). Sedim
