2. Metallurgical Characterization of API X65 Steel Joint Welded by MIG Welding Process with Axial Magnetic Field
In this work, API X-65 pipeline steel non-conventionally heat treated, to enhance its mechanical resistance, was welded using the Metal Inert Gas (MIG) process with and without the application of low intensity axial magnetic fields (6 mT). Microstructural and mechanical characterization of the welds revealed that the use of the magnetic field during welding

3. Mechanical and Corrosion Properties of a Duplex Steel Welded using Micro-Arc or Laser
Duplex stainless steels have been extensively used in parts that are subject to corrosive environments and that have high mechanical strength requirements. Welding usually distorts the well-balanced austenite-ferrite ratio, and can produce brittle intermetallic phases; therefore, post-welding heat treatments are usually required. For applications where post-

5. Effect of welding current and voltage on the mechanical properties of wrought (6063) aluminium alloy
This work was carried out to investigate the effect of welded joints on the mechanical properties of wrought (6063) aluminium alloy. The study revealed the influence of current and voltage on the welded joint as well as the mechanical properties of the alloy. The alloy samples were welded together by metal inert gas welding process at varying values of curre

The study of welding materiaIs play an important role in the development of the end-technology in manufacturing today. The Cr-Ni austenitic stainless steel may undergo different metallurgic transformation during and after the welding. These transformations can provoke irredeemable defects on the welded pieces during its lifetime. Due to the negative influenc

8. Kinetics of the metal components of intratracheally instilled stainless steel welding fume suspensions in rats.
The kinetics of iron, chromium, nickel, and cobalt from manual metal arc and metal inert gas stainless steel welding fumes were studied. Neutron activated welding fumes, in aqueous suspensions, were instilled intratracheally into rats. The follow up continued for up to 106 days. From both fumes, approximately 10% of the injection bolus was immediately lost i

9. Retinal burns caused by exposure to MIG-welding arcs: report of two cases.
A new generation of arc welder has recently become widely available at a price which is within reach of most amateurs and part-time mechanics, known as the MIG welder (metal-arc inert gas welder). In MIG welding the arc is ensheathed in a stream of inert gas which prevents the molten metal from oxidising. The stream of gas changes the character of the emitte

10. Semen quality and sex hormones among mild steel and stainless steel welders: a cross sectional study.
Welding may be detrimental to the male reproductive system. To test this hypothesis, semen quality was examined in 35 stainless steel welders, 46 mild steel welders, and 54 non-welding metal workers and electricians. These figures represent a participation rate of 37.1% in welders and 36.7% in non-welding subjects. The mean exposure to welding fume particula

11. Dissolution of stainless steel welding fumes in the rat lung: an x ray microanalytical study.
The dissolution of stainless steel welding fumes produced by manual metal arc (MMA) and metal inert gas (MIG) techniques was studied by transmission electron microscopy and quantitative x ray microanalysis in the lungs of rats after inhalation exposure. Rats exposed to stainless steel fumes generated by MMA were found to have two particle populations of diff
