1. Microbiological contamination of nebulizers used by cystic fibrosis patients: an underestimated problem

2. Performance evaluation of nebulizers based on aerodynamic droplet diameter characterization using the Direct Laminar Incidence (DLI)
Abstract Introduction Optical microscope images can be useful to evaluate nebulizers considering the size of droplets produced by these devices. From this perspective, the proposed method was compared to the classic concept of Mass Median Aerodynamic Diameter (MMAD) for the ideal droplet size between 0.5-5.5 µm. Methods We tested a sample of five home neb

3. Desenvolvimento de métodos analíticos para determinação de terras raras, Th, U e Y em rochas, solos e sedimentos por ICP-MS
In this work, the introduction of dissolved geological certified reference materials in the plasma through pneumatic (PN) and ultrasonic (USN) nebulizers was studied, in order to compare both nebulizers performances in connection to the determination of rare earth elements (REE), U, Th and Y in geological samples by inductively coupled plasma mass spectromet

4. Avaliação do conhecimento sobre o uso de inaladores dosimetrados entre profissionais de saúde de um hospital pediátrico / Evaluation of the knowledge of health professionals at a pediatric hospital regarding the use of metered-dose inhalers
There are data in the literature indicating that the administration of medications such as inhaled corticosteroids and bronchodilators, using metered-dose inhalers, is more effective and safer than its dispensation by conventional nebulizers. However, there is evidence that not only patients but also health care professionals have difficulty in dealing with

5. Avaliação da conformidade de práticas de controle e prevenção da pneumonia associada à ventilação mecânica em um hospital público de ensino / Evaluation of compliance to the practices of control and prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia in a public teaching hospital
There is a present consensus that the process of control and prevention of infection associated to health services (IAHS) based on result indicators is limited to recognize the real conditions in which assistance practices are performed. So, processual evaluations have been required to know the conformity level of these events in relation to recommendations

Background: Asthma is a multifatorial and chronic disease, characterized by airflow obstruction and airways hyperresponsiveness. Inhalation therapy is the first option to revert the bronchospasm presented by patients and noninvasive ventilation (NV) through positive pressure have been used coupling to nebulizations, but there are few and controversial data a

7. APERFEIÇOAMENTO E APLICAÇÕES DE UMA METODOLOGIA PARA ANÁLISE DE ESPECIAÇÃO DE ARSÊNIO POR ELETROFORESE CAPILAR COM DETECTOR DE ICPMS / IMPROVEMENTS AND APPLICATIONS OF A METHODOLOGY FOR THE SPECIATION ANALYSIS OF ARSENIC USING CAPILLARY ELECTROPHORESIS WITH ICPMS DETECTOR
Capillary electrophoresis (CE) is a well established separation technique for the study of elemental speciation, however, its low electroosmotic flow nL min(-1) restricts its application in many studies in which low detection limits are required. For this reason, the study of CE coupling (hyphenation) to more sensitive detectors is of great relevance. This w

8. Home-use nebulizers: a potential primary source of Burkholderia cepacia and other colistin-resistant, gram-negative bacteria in patients with cystic fibrosis.
Inhalation of aerosols contaminated with gram-negative bacteria generated from home-use nebulizers used by cystic fibrosis (CF) patients may be a primary route for bacterial colonization of the lung. Burkholderia cepacia was isolated from 3 of [corrected] 35 home-use nebulizers, and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia was isolated from 4 of 35 home-use nebulizers.

9. Aerosol Evaluations of the De Vilbiss No. 40 and Vaponefrin Nebulizers
De Vilbiss no. 40 and Vaponefrin standard nebulizers produced aerosols of small particles suitable for deep pulmonary vaccination and therapy of respiratory infections in man and animals.

10. Pseudomonas cepacia strains isolated from water reservoirs of unheated nebulizers.
Pseudomonas cepacia strains were isolated from the water reservoirs of unheated nebulizers in a hospital setting. The isolates were characterized by morphology, biochemical tests, and antibiotic susceptibility patterns. An interesting feature of these organisms was their capacity for sustained multiplication in either doubly deionized or doubly distilled wat

12. Aerosol delivery of liposome-encapsulated ciprofloxacin: aerosol characterization and efficacy against Francisella tularensis infection in mice.
The aerosol delivery of liposome-encapsulated ciprofloxacin by using 12 commercially available jet nebulizers was evaluated in this study. Aerosol particles containing liposome-encapsulated ciprofloxacin generated by the nebulizers were analyzed with a laser aerodynamic particle sizer. Mean mass aerodynamic diameters (MMADs) and geometric standard deviations
