1. Genetic progress of the peach breeding program of Embrapa over 16 years
Abstract The peach breeding program of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), addressing the adaptation to mild winter conditions, is one of the largest in the world and maintains a germplasm collection of nearly 900 accessions. The objective was to estimate the genetic progress in fruit weight (FW) and fruit development period (FDP) resu

2. Relationship between fruit traits and contents of ascorbic acid and carotenoids in peach
Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between fruit traits and their direct and indirect effects on the content of ascorbic acid and carotenoids in peaches and nectarines. The traits fruit mass (FM); equatorial diameter (ED); suture diameter (SD); polar diameter (PD); pulp firmness (FIR); soluble solids (SS); titratable acidity (TA); SS/TA r

3. Padrões climáticos atuais e futuros de temperatura do ar na Região Sul do Brasil e seus impactos nos cultivos de pêssego e de nectarina em Santa Catarina / Current and future air temperature climatic patterns in the South Region of Brazil: the impacts on peach and nectarine production in Santa Catarina
Over the years, climate changes and their direct impacts were observed in different parts of the globe. The present study considers the main air temperature patterns, including their extreme values, in Southern Brazil and assesses their impacts on peach and nectarine production. The analysis is based on daily air temperatures recorded at weather stations dis

4. A padronização e classificação de fruta como ferramenta de gestão : um estudo na comercialização de pêssego e nectarina.
The objective of this dissertation is to evaluate the use of standardization and classification rules, suggested by the CEAGESP, by peach and nectarine producers and wholesalers and identify the effects of this procedure in the supplying and commercialization of the mentioned fruits. The methodology used was the qualitative study and the study case, where th

5. Quantificação de danos e controle pós-colheita de podridão parda (Monilinia fructicola) e podridão mole (Rhizopus stolonifer) em frutos de ameixa e nectarina / Quantification of damages and control of the postharvest diseases brown rot (Monilinia fructicola) and soft rot (Rhizopus stolonifer) in plum and nectarine fruits
This study had two distinct objectives, to quantify and characterize the postharvest damages in plums and nectarines in the wholesale market of São Paulo (CEAGESP), and to test products that can be used in the control of the postharvest diseases such as the brown rot (Monilinia fructicola) and soft rot (Rhizopus stolonifer) in these two fruits species. 6. Estudo do processo de desidratação osmotica e secagem de nectarian (Prunus persica). / Study of combinated process of dehydration osmotic and nectarina drying (Prunnus persica).
In this work it was studied the combined process of osmotic dehydration with conventional air drying. The process of osmotic dehydration was carried out using sucrose and corn glucose solutions, in different concentrations and temperatures. The osmotic process was delineated according a complete experimental design (23), using as factors temperature and solu

7. Estudo de carotenoide e pro-vitamina A em alimentos
Many analytical methods have been developed with the purpose of establishing a simple, rapid and economic procedure for determining the provi tamins A in foods. In the present study, three methods were assessed: those of COST91, IVACG and RODRIGUEZ-AMAYA et alii simplied. Kale, carrot, papaya and tomato were chosen as food samples because of their distinct c

9. Red Fluorescent Protein pH Biosensor to Detect Concentrative Nucleoside Transport*
Human concentrative nucleoside transporter, hCNT3, mediates Na+/nucleoside and H+/nucleoside co-transport. We describe a new approach to monitor H+/uridine co-transport in cultured mammalian cells, using a pH-sensitive monomeric red fluorescent protein variant, mNectarine, whose development and characterization are also reported here. 10. Ripening of Nectarine Fruit (Changes in the Cell Wall, Vacuole, and Membranes Detected Using Electrical Impedance Measurements).
Electrical impedance measurements were used to characterize changes in intracellular and extracellular resistance as well as changes in the condition of membranes during ripening of nectarines (Prunus persica [L.] Batsch cv Fantasia). These measurements were related to changes in fruit texture assessed by flesh firmness and apparent juice content. An electri
