1. Gas permeability and compressive strength evaluation of porous Al2O3 supported membrane
Abstract The aim was to investigate the feasibility of using a device to characterize permeability in porous substrates with low gas flux. Al2O3 supports were prepared by dry pressing using 1 to 3 wt% of polyethylene glycol (PEG) as a pore-forming agent. The green body was partially sintered at 1300 ºC. CO2 gas was used to measure both the pressure loss and

2. Development of a ceramic membrane for emulsion water-diesel treatment
Abstract The purpose of this study was the development of a low-cost ceramic tubular membrane, using inexpensive materials, namely natural clay, and graphite as a porogenic agent. Such a low-cost membrane can be used as filters or porous supports for the preparation of multilayer ceramic membranes. Extrusion was used as a shape-forming method for this purpos

3. Silicon carbide hollow fiber membranes developed for the textile industry wastewater treatment
Abstract In order to reduce the impacts of the industrial effluent on the environment, silicon carbide hollow fiber membranes were prepared by the precipitation-immersion technique and sintered at 1450 and 1500 °C. The membranes were characterized by X-ray diffraction, their surface structure was characterized by scanning electron microscopy and atomic forc

4. Regenerated Cellulose Membrane from Peanut Shell for Biodiesel Purification
Biodiesel purification by water washing has been proved to be an unattractive process from an economic and environmental point of view. In this work, we propose the use of regenerated cellulose membranes from peanut shell as an alternative in the biodiesel purification. The preparation of the membranes was optimized from a central composite design, resulting

5. AVALIAÇÃO DO PERFIL DE LIBERAÇÃO DO FÁRMACO IBUPROFENO EM MEMBRANAS SIMÉTRICAS E ASSIMÉTRICAS DE ACETATO DE CELULOSE: EFEITO DA MORFOLOGIA
Cellulose derivatives still receive special attention in today biomedical applications due to their biocompatibility, ability to form resistant membranes and compatibility with various bioactive agents. In this work, cellulose acetate (CA) was used to prepare membranes with different morphologies aiming to evaluate the release profile of the drug ibuprofen (

6. Polyethersulfone Hollow Fiber Membranes Developed for Oily Emulsion Treatment
Polyethersulfone (PES) hollow fiber membranes were produced, containing 3% of two types of clay (Brasgel PA - MMT and Cloisite NA - CLNa), in order to modify the characteristics of the polyethersulfone membrane. By means of the X-ray diffraction, it was possible to observe an exfoliated and/or partially exfoliated structure in the membranes containing clay.

9. Influence of sintering temperature on the development of alumina membrane shaped by centrifugal casting for gas separation
Abstract The development of ceramic membranes for the most diverse separation processes has gained high visibility, mainly due to their better performance in harsh environments in comparison to polymeric materials. Among the different techniques used to prepare tubular ceramic membranes, the centrifugal casting (CC) is interesting for obtaining highly homoge

10. Membranas Compuestas: propiedades superficiales y estabilidad térmica
ABSTRACT The composite membranes were manufactured with crosslinking poly(vinyl alcohol) on polyethersulfone porous membranes by coating process. PES membranes were exposed to air plasma for the purpose of surface modification. The coating of the support membrane was carried out by using a polymer matrix with a crosslinking agent. The physico-chemical proper

11. A Dual-mode model interpretation of CO2/CH4 permeability in polysulfone membranes at low pressures
ABSTRACT An asymmetric membrane of polysulfone (PSf) was synthesized by phase inversion method. Permeation experiments were carried out between 2 to 5 bar pressure, and at temperatures 20 to 45°C. The dense-selective layer of PSf membrane presents regular thickness (about 5 µm), and was not possible to observe the formation of macrovoids in porous layer. T

12. Coagulation Bath in The Production of Membranes of Nanocomposites Polyamide 6/Clay
Membranes of polyamide 6 and its nanocomposites with 3 and 5% of clay were obtained by the phase inversion method using distilled water and solvent as the coagulation bath, 10 and 30% of acid was used, in order to change the membranes morphology/porosity. By XRD analysis, the obtained nanocomposites showed an exfoliated and/or partially exfoliated structure,
