2. Clinical implications of Golgi protein 73 and granulocyte colony-stimulating factor and their related factors in children with bronchopneumonia
Abstract Objective: To investigate the clinical implications of Golgi glycoprotein 73 (GP73) and granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) in children with bronchopneumonia (BP). Methods: Seventy-two children with BP (observation group) and 81 healthy children (control group) consecutively brought to the present study's hospital between June 2019 and O

3. Increased expression of matrix metalloproteinases 2 and 9 as poor prognosis factor for Hodgkin’s lymphoma patients
Abstract Objective: The aim of our study was to evaluate the expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 as a prognostic factor in patients diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL). Methods: In the present study, 45 paraffin biopsies from patients up to 19 years old diagnosed with HL were used in two referral hospitals in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil. Risk groups were cl

4. Gender differences in progression to crack-cocaine use and the role of sexual and physical violence
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate whether progression from first drug use to crack-cocaine use differs according to gender, and whether the report of sexual or physical violence impacts the time of progression. Methods: We interviewed 896 crack-cocaine users (548 men; 348 women) from addiction treatment units. Cox regression models evaluated the time

6. The Prognostic Roles of PYCR2 and ZBTB18 Expression in Tissues of Colorectal Carcinoma and Non-Neoplastic Tissues: An Immunohistochemical Study
Abstract Background It is important to detect novel biomarkers responsible for the progression and spread of colorectal cancer (CRC) to better evaluate the prognosis of the patients, provide better management, and foster the development of therapeutic targets. In humans, pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase 2 (PYCR2) is encoded on chromosome 1q42.12, and its m

7. MicroRNA-375 inhibits laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma progression via targeting CST1
Abstract Objective: This study aims to explore the effect and mechanism of miR-375 in Laryngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (LSCC) cell progression. Methods: LSCC cells (LSC-1 and TU177) were transfected with miR-375-mimic, miR-375-inhibitor or miR-375-mimic + oe-CST1. The expression of miR-375, CST1, MMP-2, and MMP-9 was measured. The effect of miR-375-mimic,

9. Screening for myeloid mutations in patients with myelodysplastic syndromes and AML with myelodysplasia-related changes
ABSTRACT Introduction: One of the most critical complications in myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) is the progression to acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The dynamics of clonal evolution in MDS and how acquired mutations can be used as biomarkers to track disease progression remains under investigation. Objective and method: Herein, we investigated the frequenc

10. Tumorigenic and immunological roles of Heat shock protein A2 in pancreatic cancer: a bioinformatics analysis
SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: Heat shock protein A2 has been reported to be tightly associated with tumorigenesis and tumor progression. This study aimed to determine the oncogenic and immunological roles of Heat shock protein A2 in pancreatic cancer by bioinformatics. METHODS: Expression of Heat shock protein A2 in tumorous and normal specimens of pancreatic cancer
