1. Rigidez de superfÃcies de contato e caracterizaÃÃo de variedades riemannianas munidas de um campo conforme ou de alguma mÃtrica especial / Rigidity of the contact surfaces and characterization of Riemannian manifolds carrying a conformal vector fields or some special metric

2. Hipersuperfícies do R4 invariantes por um subgrupo de isometrias com curvatura escalar nula / Hypersurfaces of R4 invariant by an isometry subgroup with zero scalar curvature

Hypersurfaces with constant mean curvature and hypersurfaces with constant scalar in curvature sphere.
In this work we prove two theorems that characterize the hypersurfaces in the unitary sphere of dimension n+1. The first result, obtained by H. Alencar and M. do Carmo, classifies hypersurfaces with constant mean curvature in the sphere. This result was published in April 1994 in Proceedings of The American Mathematical Society, volume 120, number 4 with the

5. Actions for the bosonic string with the curved worldsheet
At first we introduce an action for the string, which leads to a worldsheet that always is curved. For this action we study the Poincaré symmetry and the associated conserved currents. Then, a generalization of the above action, which contains an arbitrary function of the two-dimensional scalar curvature, will be introduced. An extra scalar field enables us

7. Análise geométrica e dinâmica de modelos de gravidade generalizada / Geometrical and Dynamical Analysis of Generalized Gravity Models
This work aims the investigation of some dynamical aspects of generalized gravity models, namely scalar-tensor and f(R) models. These models intend to solve in a more natural way the problem of the existence of the dark energy, which is supposedly the component of the Universe that causes its accelerated expansion. In a null spatial curvature Friedmann-Lema

8. Scalar perturbation in a black hole localized on a brane
In this work we study a scalar perturbation in a brane black hole with Schwarzschild behavior, localized on the brane. This black hole solution was derived by Casadio, Fabbri and Mazzacurati with the metric satisfying the condition R = 0, where R is the four-dimensional scalar curvature.

9. A model for a non-minimally coupled scalar field interacting with dark matter
In this work we investigate the evolution of a Universe consisted of a scalar field, a dark matter field and non-interacting baryonic matter and radiation. The scalar field, which plays the role of dark energy, is non-minimally coupled to space-time curvature, and drives the Universe to a present accelerated expansion. The non-relativistic dark matter field

In 1983, R. Schoen proved that the only complete immersed minimal hypersurfaces in Rn+1 with two regular ends are the catenoid and a pair of planes. The methods used by Schoen led J. Hounie and M. L. Leite to prove a similar result for hypersurfaces with zero scalar curvature. The main difference in the proof of the two theorems is in the fact that the equat

11. Cones in the Euclidean space with vanishing scalar curvature

12. Scalar field cosmology in three-dimensions
We study an analytical solution to the Einstein's equations in 2 + 1-dimensions. The space-time is dynamical and has a line symmetry. The matter content is a minimally coupled, massless, scalar field. Depending on the value of certain parameters, this solution represents three distinct space-times. The first one is at space-time. Then, we have a big bang mod
