1. Improvement in light utilization and shoot growth in Hymenaea stigonocarpa under high CO 2 concentration attenuates simulated leaf herbivory effects
ABSTRACT This study evaluated the photochemical responses of photosystem II and growth of Hymenaea stigonocarpa under CO2-enriched conditions with exposure to simulated herbivory events. After herbivory simulation in two distinct parts of the stem of plants (apex and base), chlorophyll a fluorescence, chlorophyll index, growth, extrafloral nectary density, l

2. Seed physiological quality and harvest point of dovyalis fruits

3. Cutting and regeneration of roots and seedlings from seeds of Eugenia candolleana DC. at different maturity stages

4. Canopy management effects on ‘Syrah’ grapevines under tropical semi-arid conditions
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of shoot topping and leaf removal practices on vegetative vigor, yield and physicochemical characteristics of the 'Syrah' grape in the semi-arid tropical climate conditions of the São Francisco River Valley in the northeast of Brazil. The experiment was conducted over five growing cycles from 2010 t

5. Desenvolvimento de métodos para estudo de dioxinas presentes na cinza do bagaço da cana-de-açúcar : avaliação do potencial biorremediador de cepas microbianas em compostagem aeróbica / Development of methods for the study of dioxins in sugarcane bagasse ash: evaluation of bioremediation potential of microbial strains in aerobic composting
Sugarcane bagasse ash is a byproduct of sugar and alcohol industry with potential for field application. However, the presence of organic contaminants such as dioxins turns necessary the development of strategies for removal of those pollutants, such as bioremediation. Because of the high toxicity of dioxins, it is wise to develop effective and low risk meth

Due to environmental constraints, lack of manpower and the search for better efficiency, the harvesting of sugar cane tends to be mechanized, causing large amount of straw is available in this new system. There are benefits to soil and culture provided by this residue. However, it was discussed what amount would be sufficient to promote these benefits and wh

7. Antioxidant system response induced by aluminum in two rice cultivars
The antioxidant defense system response was evaluated in two rice cultivars (Oryza sativa L.), Fernandes (CNA-1158) and Maravilha (CNA-6843-1), treated with toxic levels of aluminum. After exposure to aluminum we determined plant growth, H2O2 and O2•- contents, lipid peroxidation, antioxidant enzymes activities and ascorbate and dehydroascorbate contents.

8. Fitoextração em solo contaminado com metais pesados / Phytoextraction of soil contaminated with heavy metals
The industrial and urban progress associated with increased production of consumer goods has resulted in the generation of waste, which, for a long time, was indiscriminately discarded in the environment, causing damage usually irreversible to recover. Two experiments were conducted in soils contaminated with heavy metals: the first aimed at the disposal of

9. Patogenicidade de isolados de fusarium sacchari de mangueira do Cerrado do Brasil Central.
ABSTRACT: The fungus Fusarium sacchari (E.J. Butler & Hafiz Kahn) W. Gams, was consistently isolated from infected malformed shoots and panicles of mango in the Cerrado Region of Central Brazil, from 1998 to 2000. Pathogenicity tests of the F. sacchari isolates were carried out on potted six month-old Tommy Atkins seedlings by introducting a PDA disk with fu

10. Phosphorus analysis in soil under herbaceous perennial leguminous cover by nuclear magnetic spectroscopy.
The availability and the reserves of organic phosphorus are controlled by its mineralization rate and are also influenced by changes in soil management. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of soil covering with different leguminous plant on soil organic P by 31P-NMR spectroscopy. Alkaline soil extracts were obtained from two depths (0-5

Marli.
Pessegueiros (Prunus persica (L.) Batsch), cv.

12. Evaluation of bioavailability of heavy metals in urban waste in solid for extractors in Brazil
The organic fraction of urban solid waste (USW) is around 60% of the total. The composting is a simple and efficient process to recycle this fraction of the USW, transforming it in organic fertilizer. The compounds of waste can contain a value assigned to aggregate economic potential of reuse of micronutrients (Cu, Ni and Zn) contained therein, in the produc
