1. Thermal, structural and optical properties of magnetic BiFeO3 micron-particles synthesized by coprecipitation method: heterogeneous photocatalysis study under white LED irradiation
Abstract Bismuth ferrite, BiFeO3 (BFO) prepared via a coprecipitation method, was used as an effective photocatalyst for the degradation of methylene blue (MB) using a white light-emitting diode (LED-50 W) lamp. The as-prepared material was characterized by TGA, XRD, SEM-EDX, FTIR, and UV-vis-DRS techniques. The effects of experimental key parameters such as

2. Evaluation of the physical and antifungal effects of chlorhexidine diacetate incorporated into polymethyl methacrylate
Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the physical properties and antifungal activities of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) acrylic resins after the incorporation of chlorhexidine diacetate salt (CDA). Methodology: First, acrylic resin specimens were fabricated with Vipi Cor® and DuraLay® resins with and without the incorporation of 0.5%, 1.0% or 2.0% CDA.

3. Sorption and Desorption of Tembotrione and its Metabolite AE 1417268 in Soils with Different Attributes

4. Tembotrione Half-Life in Soils with Different Attributes

5. Aminocyclopyrachlor and mesotrione sorption–desorption in municipal sewage sludge-amended soil
ABSTRACT The application of sewage sludge (SS) in agriculture is a practice used worldwide, and it is commonly applied in sugarcane to supply nutrients, with beneficial effects on crop productivity and soil; but SS can increase sorption and decrease desorption of herbicides. However, in tropical soils such as in Brazil, there are no studies regarding the beh

6. Functionalized Charcoal as a Buffering Matrix of Copper and Zinc Availability
ABSTRACT: High copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) contents in soil can cause phytotoxicity to plants and contaminate surface and groundwater, with negative effects on agriculture and the environment. Functionalized charcoal (OCh) has high cation exchange capacity (CEC) and the ability to adsorb Cu and Zn and control their availability in the soil and water. An adsorp

7. Effect of disinfection techniques on physical-mechanical properties of a microwave-activated acrylic resin
Abstract The effects of disinfection by microwave irradiation and immersion in peracetic acid on the physical-mechanical properties of a microwave-activated acrylic resin were evaluated. Specimens of acrylic resin were divided into a control group (specimens not disinfected) and 2 test groups subjected to one disinfection method: microwave irradiation at 85

8. Porosity, water sorption and solubility of denture base acrylic resins polymerized conventionally or in microwave
Abstract The proper selection of polymerization cycle is important to prevent overheating of the monomer that could cause degradation, porosity and, consequently, deleterious effects on the denture base properties. Objective This study evaluated the porosity, water sorption and solubility of acrylic resins (Vipi Cril-VC and Vipi Wave-VW) after conventional

9. Porosity of temporary denture soft liners containing antifungal agents
ABSTRACT Incorporation of antifungals in temporary denture soft liners has been recommended for denture stomatitis treatment; however, it may affect their properties. Objective: To evaluate the porosity of a tissue conditioner (Softone) and a temporary resilient liner (Trusoft) modified by minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of antifungal agents for Ca

10. ADSORPTION OF THE DYE REACTIVE BLUE 5G IN RETORTED SHALE
Abstract In this study the influence of the volumetric flow rate and feed concentration was investigated for the adsorption of the reactive dye Blue 5G. Experiments were carried out in a bed packed with retorted shale, at 30 ºC. The ranges investigated were flow rate 2 -10 mL/min and the feed concentration 13-105 mg/L. Mathematical models were used to repre

11. Removal of the synthetic dye Remazol Brilliant Blue R from textile industry wastewaters by biosorption on the macrophyte Salvinia natans
Batch experiments were carried out for biosorption of Remazol Brilliant Blue R dye onto the macrophyte Salvinia natans. Effects of parameters such as initial dye concentration, pH, biosorbent dosage, contact time and temperature were investigated. Chemical and morphological characteristics of the biosorbent were evaluated before and after the biosorption pro
