1. Finite strip method computer application for buckling analysis of thin-walled structures with arbitrary cross-sections
Abstract The Direct Strength Method (DSM) is a well-known formulation presented in the Brazilian standard ABNT NBR 14762:2010, that estimates the strength capacity of cold-formed steel (CFS) members. However, this formulation requires the elastic critical buckling loads as point of departure, regarding local (L), distortional (D) and global (G) modes, which

2. A methodology to investigate the influence of the fillet radius on the buckling of integrally stiffened panels
Abstract The use of integrally stiffened panels (ISP's) in wings of small and medium-sized aircraft is frequent in aviation. These thin-walled structures are often subjected to compressive loads during their life-time and, although the finite element method has become an important tool for engineers to obtain the buckling load of structural members, some res

3. Vibration behavior of thin-walled steel members subjected to uniform bending
Abstract This article reports the results of an investigation on the effects of internal moments on the vibration behavior of thin-walled steel members. The analyses are based on the Generalized Beam Theory (GBT), a thin-walled bar theory accounting for cross-section in-plane deformations - its main distinctive feature is the representation of the member def

4. Quasi-Static Crushing and Energy Absorption Characteristics of Thin-Walled Cylinders with Geometric Discontinuities of Various Aspect Ratios
Abstract In this paper, energy absorption and deformation capacity of circular thin-walled members with elliptical cut-outs are investigated both numerically and experimentally. Thin-walled members possess the uniform height, thickness, average cross sectional area, material and volume are subjected to axial quasi-static loading. To conduct such tests, speci

5. Crashworthiness Analysis of S-Shaped Structures Under Axial Impact Loading
Abstract To mitigate shock forces in collision events, thin-walled members are used as energy absorber. In this article, crashworthiness of single-cell and multi-cell S-shaped members with various cross-sections including triangular, square, hexagonal, decagon and circular were investigated under axial dynamic loading using finite element code LS-DYNA. Furth

6. A Numerical and experimental study on the crash behavior of the extruded aluminum crash box with elastic support
Thin-walled structures like crash boxes may be used as energy absorption members in automotive chassis. There have been many studies addressing the behaviors of energy absorption members on frontal crash. These researches have attempted to predict the energy absorption and maximum impact load in shell structures. The energy absorption and maximum impact load

7. Experimental investigation of the mechanical properties of ZAR-345 cold-formed steel at elevated temperatures
Considering the technical-scientific advances of recent years in the steel construction industry, there is a strong trend for the increasing use of cold-formed steel members in civil construction, due to several advantages such as cost and versatility of fabrication and erection. However, there is need for further study concerning the behavior of this type o

9. Theoretical and experimental analysis of cold-formed steel members under compression / Análise teórica e experimental de perfis de aço formados a frio submetidos à compressão
Cold-formed steel members present, in general, higher local slenderness than classical hot- rolled ones, which make them more prone to local buckling. Besides, thin-walled open sections have small torsional stiffness, and hence global torsional and flexural-torsional instability modes are many times more critical than global flexural ones. Also, distortional

10. Análise teórico-experimental de sistemas aporticados com elementos perfurados em perfis formados a frio - Racks
Industrial Storage Racks are used in warehouses, because they improve the space occupation, and let easy access to the products. They are built with cold formed profiles, and presents the instability phenomena like local and distortional modes, common in thin-walled members. The uprights of these structures shows holes to make easy the assemblage. There are

11. Fatal cerebral mycoses caused by the ascomycete Chaetomium strumarium.
Three cases of fatal cerebral mycosis in males with prior histories of intravenous drug use from the United States and Australia are reported. Infection in each case was limited to brain abscess; no other sites of infection were observed. The fungus seen by histopathology and isolated from the brain tissue in each case was identified as Chaetomium strumarium
