1. Selection of ornamental peppers elite lines for ethylene-insensitive
ABSTRACT Peppers belongs to Capsicum genus and have a lot of different varieties. They can be different uses such as potted ornamental plants. Retail market for this type of pepper requires the development of a greater number of commercial cultivars with adequate ornamental characteristics as well as an extended shelf life (post-production). Ethylene exposur

2. SPATIAL VARIABILITY OF THE WATER DEPTH APPLIED BY FIXED SPRINKLER IRRIGATION SYSTEMS
Abstract The uniformity of water application is an important factor in the evaluation of sprinkler irrigation systems. This uniformity depends on the type of sprinkler and its operating conditions, such as the arrangement and spacing between the sprinklers in the area; velocity and wind direction during the period of water application and the pressure variat

3. Enzyme Complex Added to Broiler Diets: Effects on Performance, Metabolizable Energy Content, and Nitrogen and Phosphorus Balance
ABSTRACT Two trials were performed to evaluate the effects of an enzyme complex (EC) on broiler performance, metabolizable energy, and phosphorus and nitrogen balance. In the first trial, 960 one-day-old male Cobb broilers were randomly distributed in a 3 x 2 factorial arrangement (three nutritional levels and the inclusion or not of EC), totaling six treatm

4. Metabolizable energy values of diets supplemented with xylanase determined with laying hens
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of the supplementation of xylanase in diets with reduced energy level on the apparent metabolizable energy corrected for nitrogen, determined with laying hens at 14, 36, 60 and 80 weeks of age. Four digestibility trials were conducted, using 80 Hy-line W36 laying hens aged 14, 36, 60 and 80 weeks of age.

5. Performance and nutritional evaluation of beef cattle raised on pasture, castrated at different ages, with and without supplementation
The objective of this study was to evaluate performance and nutritional traits of beef cattle raised on pastures, castrated at different ages, with and without supplementation. Forty-four crossbred young bulls with predominance of Zebu breed at initial average age of 120±30 days were used in the experiment. Animals were distributed in a completely randomize

6. Lysine nutritional requirements of broilers reared in clean and dirty environments during the pre-starter and starter phases
A total of 3,760 Ross male broiler chicks were used in two trials, one in the pre-starter (1-11 days) phase and the other in the starter (12-22 days) phase. Birds were distributed in a completely randomized experimental design with a factorial arrangement of 5 digestible lysine levels × 2 environments (clean and dirty environment), with eight replicates per

7. Selecting appropriate bedding to reduce locomotion problems in broilers
Two experiments were carried out at the Poultry Sector of the School of Agrarian Sciences of the Federal University of Grande Dourados to evaluate the incidence of leg problems in broilers reared on two distinct types of bedding material: rice husks or wood shavings, both new and reused. In both trials, a randomized experimental design was applied in factori

8. Comparison of the effects of semi-refined rice oil and soybean oil on meat oxidative stability, carcass yield, metabolism, and performance of broilers
Two experiments (EXP 1 and EXP 2) were conducted to compare soybean oil (SO) and semi-refined rice oil (RBO) added to broilers diets. In EXP 1, 400 male Ross x Ross 308 broilers were reared in battery cages, and their performance was evaluated. A metabolism assay was performed. In EXP 2, 1344 broilers from the same strain were reared in floor pens with rice

With the objective of evaluating the effects of row spacing and plant population on grain yield and agronomic characteristics of corn, two trials were carried out in the region of Campos Gerais, state of Paraná. The experimental design was complete randomized blocks arranged in split plot, with main plot composed of tree rows spacing (40, 60 and 80 cm) and

11. Nutritional value of rice brans supplemented with phytase determined by different methodologies on birds / Valor nutricional de farelos de arroz suplementados com fitase, determinado por diferentes metodologias com aves
Most rations for birds is formulated on the basis of corn and soybean meal, feedstuffs of high cost. But, the use of non-conventional feeds will be able to make them more economical, since they do not affect negatively the performance of those animals. Five metabolism trials were conducted in the Poultry Production Sector of the Animal Science Department of

In order to evaluate the different levels of digestible lysine and zinc chelate effect on Ross male broiler chicken from 22 to 42 days of age, two trials were carried out. The experimental design was completely randomized with a 5x2 arrangement, with treatments consisting of five levels of lysine and two levels of zinc chelate (43 and 243ppm). All diets cont
