1. EFFECT OF DISC-BLADE INTERCEPTING ANGLE ON MIXING PERFORMANCE IN A MULTIPHASE STIRRED VESSEL
Abstract The impeller geometry is a determining factor for mixing efficiency in a stirred vessel. In this study, the effect of disc-blade intercepting angle on power number, just suspended speed and mass transfer coefficient was investigated in a multiphase system under turbulent conditions. The impellers used in this study were fabricated with 3D printing.

3. INFLUENCE OF INTERFACIAL FORCES ON THE MIXTURE PREDICTION OF AN ANAEROBIC SEQUENCING BATCH REACTOR (ASBR)
AbstractIn the operation of bioreactors, the fluid movement promotes mixing between sludge and substrate. The dynamics of this system are complex, and the interaction between the phases is difficult to evaluate accurately. In this work, Computational Fluid Dynamics is applied to simulate a pilot-scale anaerobic sequencing batch reactor, using a three-dimensi

4. Effect of internal recirculation velocity in an anaerobic sequencing batch reactor (ASBR)
This paper discusses the effect of different internal recirculation velocities on the mixture and shear stress on the flocs in an anaerobic sequencing batch reactor (ASBR). Thus, simulations are performed using a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tool to evaluate this dependency. The analysis of velocities and turbulent kinetic energy indicates that the hig

5. Time-frequency analysis of Hilbert spectrum of pressure fluctuation time series in a Kenics Static Mixer based on empirical mode decomposition
The turbulent flow in a Kenics Static Mixer (KSM) was intensified under the mutual-coupling effect between the twisted leaves and the tube-wall. In order to understand the intrinsic features of turbulent flow in KSM, the Hilbert-Huang Transform based on Empirical Mode Decomposition were first introduced to describe the time-frequency features of the pressure

6. Análise da influência de impelidores laterais no tempo de mistura em tanques de estocagem de diesel com o uso da fluidodinâmica computacional / Analysis of the influence of side-entry mixers on the mixing time in diesel storage vessels using computational fluid dynamics
The homogenization process of hydrocarbons in large scale storage tanks equipped with side-entry impellers plays an important role in a refinery operation, since the quality of the final products depends on the performance of this process. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is the most viable technique to evaluate and to optimize this process, as experimenta

7. Sistemas de análises químicas em fluxo explorando mecanismos de re-alimentação, calibração multivariada e outras abordagens para melhoria em desempenho / Flow systems exploiting feed-back mechanisms, multivariate calibration and other strategies for improving the analytical performance
Studies focusing on performance of intelligent analytical flow systems, association with multivariate calibration or use of nanocrystals as sensitizers were carried out. Moreover, improvements related to modifications in flow pattern were evaluated with emphasis to in-line dialysis. To this end, a strategy for implementing simultaneous determinations of iron

8. VARIAÇÃO SAZONAL DA ACUMULAÇÃO E FLUXO NOTURNOS DE ESCALARES EM UMA PASTAGEM NA REGIÃO AMAZÔNICA / SEASONAL VARIATION OF SCALAR NOCTURNAL ACCUMULATION AND FLUXES OVER A PASTURE IN AMAZONIA
Carbon dioxide and Radon nocturnal vertical accumulations over a pasture site at the Amazon region are investigated. The site is characterized by a strong thermal stability along the night, which is responsible for suppressing a good portion of the local turbulent mixing. Therefore, it is problematic to use techniques such as the eddy covariance for estimati

9. INVESTIGAÇÃO NUMÉRICA DO ESCOAMENTO DENTRO E ACIMA DO DOSSEL DE FLORESTAS / NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION OF FLOW WITHIN AND ABOVE FOREST CANOPY
This work investigates different procedures in order to study the turbulent flow over the scale model of a forest region. Initially, the canopy flow was modeled by using source terms in the momentum, turbulent kinetic energy and its dissipation rate equations. After that, the forest canopy was considered a homogeneous porous medium. In the last step, the can

12. Experimental tests unisng static mixers / Ensaios experimentais com misturadores estaticos
Mixing is a unit operation with applicability in many industrial fields, such as food, chemical, petrochemical, beverages and pharmaceutical, just to say some fields. The static mixers appear with an alternative to the traditional agitated vessels. They could be used such in batch mixing operation as in continuous processes, but mainly in continuous processe
